Yeah, I know I promised to update this thing more often, but I guess I spoke too soon, LOL. So, I would have liked to do a post on last week, but it was so eventful, so let me just give you a few highlights...
-watching movies until about 6 in the morning with my peer mentor, her roommate, and a redneck... and being ditched in going to Denny's (not cool, by the way)
-having to wake up to go hiking the next day, and doing a lot of rock climbing there, too... CCM does it hardcore. =)
-going to the Frederick Fair with Christinkle and other awesome people... the most redneck place I have ever been to.
And, well, you know, those are only the first few days, at least from where I left off. Classes are classes, and they are going fairly well, for the most part. So, let me do a real update from Friday.
OK, so, Friday it was my grandma's birthday, so my mom, grandma, and brother pick me up, and we go out to eat at this Italian place in Gaithersburg that we had not been to before, but had seen for years. Turned out to be really good. After that, I went to G'burg High, where a bunch of the youth group were playing basketball against some priests and seminarians and a lot of people from St. Martin's turned out to watch. I had fun, definitely, especially seeing a lot of people that I haven't seen in so long. Then, I came home, and gave my grandma the gift that I got for her, a McDaniel grandparent's mug, so that she can represent the Hill now.
Saturday, I was gonna go to the movies with my mom and my brother, but we ended up doing another birthday meal for my grandma, only this time, with more family included. We ended up going to the Greenfield Churrascaria, the Brasilian BBQ place, and it was all good. Then I went home, got all my stuff, and my dad brought me back to campus. I really wasn't planning on staying home the entire weekend because I didn't want it to seem that I was going home so much. Well, then, after unpacking, I met up with Amy and we went to Frederick. There, I went to my very first Checkers, which was awesome, we went to her house to feed her cat, and then she took me to this awesome coffee shop called the Mud Puddle. Seriously, that place is awesome to the extreme, and I would go there again in, as Sophia would say, a "hot minute." Great drinks and foods, really awesome seating arrangements, and also really cool that they are kinda Christian, too... you're gonna have to see for yourself if you are curious. =) Then, we had a great time shopping around in the Frederick Wal-Mart, which definitely does not compare to the one in Germantown, that's for sure. We came back on campus, and trying to avoid the masses of drunk students, we brought her groceries back to her room, and she came back to mine to help me redecorate, since I brought back some of my artwork to brighten up my room... it really does look nicer, though! I like what I did with it! Then, after a lot of RENT music, we headed back to her room and watched "Two Weeks Notice" randomly, and then called it a night.
Sunday (really today for me, but not really), I got to brunch with Amy and Brad, while Casey joined us later. Then, I cleaned up for the day, and my dad had to come back to campus because I had left my wallet at home, sad to say. After he dropped it off, I went with Leah, Laura, Jon, and Brad to go mini-golfing, which was a very interesting experience. Apparently, my peer mentor and her roommate love my terrible golfing skills... Then, I made it in time to walk with CCM to mass, but unfortunately, not the dinner. Went to mass, then made it back in time for a Rouzer (my dorm building) meeting, which was pointless. Basically, everyone in our building is trashing the place, and we already have a tab of $4000 that applies to all the residents for what the janitors have to clean. After that silly meeting, I went to the pub for some fourth meal with Amy and Brad, then came back to my room, procrastinated some, and decided to do laundry and homework at the same time. It was actually a good idea, considering that since the dryers suck, I put on extra time, and managed to get most of my homework done. The laundry room is a nice place to concentrate late at night, I must say.
Now, I should be in bed, and I will be in a few minutes. But, I must say, I'm glad with how I have been blessed just by having the chance to come to college. And I'm not even kidding. Although classes can be a drag, in a certain way, they are not, and I almost look forward to what each day brings... I like the experience so far.
To my friends from back home: keep in touch!
God bless you all. =)
