I had been looking on Yahoo and saw that one of the headlines read that Austin,TX had been declared the #1 movie-making city in America by MovieMaker Magazine. My curiosity aroused, I did a little more research and saw that a beautiful film studio was being built not too far from the city ( Read more... )

honestly, it sounds like it has the potential to be a good move for you. but before going I'd suggest having lined the ducks up beforehand. I don't know how far Austin is from Corpus Christi, but do you have contacts there already?

Hmmm I've never been to Corpus. Is that the place to be?

No, but it IS the only large city I remembered the name of on the Coast that was Formerly Known as John's Home.

Seriously, though, I would be sorely tempted to act on whimsey and join you out there if I weren't going to spend at least a year here with my brother first.
It's tempting.

(...I think your friend down below means two *cents*, so let me put in mine and take a wild guess... actor?)

A) Ye, that was Sonja, David's ex.

B) No, no, I lived in Houston, not Corpus. Houston is 3 hours away from Austin, but I still have good connections there and, possibly, they might be able to hook me up with good Austin connections.

C) We're not planning on kicking this thing off for another year anyway. Some of the other people who want to join in on this project don't graduate until '09 anyway. The idea to spend the interim year trying to build up some street cred... do some off-broadway things here, possibly stay at the school and do their Company, if only because it gives you good publicity, intern at some agency to get some Austin connections, etc. Or possibly even move to Austin immediately and start networking there. Many many options to do with the year.

So... you can still come join us ;-)

...haven't I earned more a distinct identity than that BY NOW!?!

p.s: I meant to type "cents" for the record, kids.
