Signals from the Universe

BONES, OMG WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?!!!
The writers decided to put Bone’s ‘confession’ of love to Booth in such an innocuous episode. I say innocuous lightly, because it was jam packed with meaningful layers for Bones as a person, but innocuous in the sense that I didn’t feel like it’d be an episode that would reveal such a biggie! And it all just came out in a matter of seconds, and whoa!

Initially, the episode didn’t start on the right foot for me. Just like how her co-worker/friends were weirded out by Brennan's subjectivity, I was being weirded out by her jumping to conclusions. (I think Emily enjoyed this episode, because she could finally use her emotional ranges). But as the episode progressed, it dawned on me, “of course, if the doctor really looked like Bones, everyone would acknowledge that, which means something’s up with Bones.”

I thought Booth’s reaction to seeing the victim’s picture and saying “Nope, doesn’t look like anyone I know,” was really great in showing the fact that Bones and Dr. Eams was different, but also setting the audience on edge (who still had little clue), thinking that Booth doesn’t really know Bones like Bones had hoped.

There were just little things that really set this episode apart for me; I still feel like it’s not the most amazing episode, but the content screams “must watch!” I guess I love it for different reasons than the usual. The best parts about this episode would have to be the interaction between Bones and Micah.

Micah is the night shift guard at the lab and he attends the Jeffersonian lectures. He relays what he’s learned to Bones, one of which was how, there’s no real objectivity in this world, simply our brains trying to interpret signals from the universe. “Thin, shaky, staticy signals that dimly hint to a greater universe that we can’t even begin to comprehend.”

When Bones said “Gee, for some reason I can always understand what you’re saying,” my suspicions were confirmed. He was totally a figment of her imagination. Awesome! lol :D
It is awesome though, because she’s working the case out in her head this way, and it works.

Switch to the scene where Bones, on impulse, goes to the last place of the victim’s whereabouts, and solves the case. She can’t prove any of it, but she knows what happens. She nearly gets hit by a car, but Booth saves the day. Now’s the big whammy moment.

They are in the car, and she starts talking about the case. Whoever wrote the dialogue is brilliant. First, she talks about Dr. Eams, who she knows is different from herself now, but then she uses Dr. Eams as a symbol of herself.
“I made a mistake…She died with regrets. [The helicopter pilot] offered himself to [Dr. Eams], but she never gave him a chance. She should have given him a chance. I got the signal, Booth. I don’t wanna have any regrets.”

“Bones, I’m with someone. And she’s not a consolation prize, I love her.”

“I understand. My world turned upside down for three days, but I can adjust.”

………………what………………………just………………………hapenned………………
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO T_T

Bones is bawling, and I’m just like numb inside. Wow, way to go innocuous episode. Way to put a mastodon in such a random episode. *sigh*

In any case, I really loved how they illustrated how it takes three days for your brain to adjust to things. So, Bones got too emotionally invested in this case, over-identifying with the victim, and took three days for her brain to logically realize that they have similarities, but she obviously has close friends (I love how Sweets was the one who made that point clear too).
I also think there was a subtle message about how love can turn your world upside down ;)

And for the record, I called the ending. I knew they would end with her seeing the picture as not herself, because that’s the way to do good drama ;) Of course, nobody cares, but I had to say it XD

*phew* Got it out of my system. Man, I didn’t think I’d be able to get all this jumbled mess of emotion and scenes to make a sensible post, so I hope it makes sense to you (to those who know what I’m talking about in the first place :p).

Man, have I been addicted to Ogon no Buta or what?
This drama took me by surprise. Honestly, despite being episodic in nature, the chemistry between cast members is AMAZING, and makes the show worth watching :D

Basically, an ex-swindler-on-parole, Shinko (Shinohara Ryoko), is scouted to audit government and citizen usage of tax monies. She's on a team with her ex, Kadomatsu (Oizumi Yo), who she swindled in the past XD Also on her team is Kudo (Okada Masaki), who is a fresh graduate from ToDai. The fourth member of the team is Kaneda (Kiritani Kenta) who is nicknamed Spagehtti Squash...for some reason? lol.

I was about to pass this up show up, but I thought "what the heck. I'll watch it for the cast," and boy am I glad I did!
Do you know how Masaki always plays those hard working, yet bumbling fool types, and has those cute little mannerisms? Well, it's like that, but his character has more confidence :) If you pay close attention to him while other characters are acting forefront, you'll catch him doing something quirky *squishes*

Shinko has taken to naming him Double Perm, because he's got that hair, but also because Kadomatsu has it too ;) And gosh, Oizumi Yo just stole my heart. Can you tell I have a thing for older men? XD
OH! And do you guys remember Kenta from Ryusei no Kizuna? He's got his serious face on, glasses and nicely combed hair, and I love him dearly :P He's not nearly as bad as sticky-note guy was, but he makes me laugh :)

OMG, and don't get me started on the shippy goodness. With Shinko's and Kadomatsu's past, I want this show to get serious about putting them back together. I feel like they joke it off every time Shinko plays with Kadomatsu's emotions, but they would make such a good pair!
AND the writers have thickened the plot with Kudo totally "declaring war" against Kadomatsu and saying that he's serious about pursuing Shinko. THIS IS GETTING GOOD! ^_^

Sorry for my impromptu fangirling of this drama, but it snuck up on me. Secret amazing drama from this season ♥
