THE FANFICTION LOVE MEME
Thanks to rowan_d for sharing this :D

day 02 → your favourite film
English: Sunshine; my review of it :)

Asian: KIDS - This was hard for me to choose, because I was going to pick "Ikigami" or something I wouldn't mind watching several times (like Lovely Complex), but I think KIDS has a thoughtful tone to it:) It's got dark bits, but Teppei's character brings light that most people don't expect anymore.
I also loved that the writer of this movie named it KIDS, because when pronounced in Japanese it would sound something like kid-zu --> kizu --> injury/scar.
It's highly poetic in relation to the movie, because it's about a young man (Teppei) who has healing powers and had to leave town because everyone thought he was a freak.
He ends up meeting Tamaki Hiroshi's character who sorta uses him, but they heal each other in friendship...it's just a really nice movie:)
Another girl character is involved who has a physical scar, always wearing a mask to hide her otherwise pretty face, and in the end, there is something said about people who keep their pain (emotional or physical) to remind them of the past and also being beautiful on the inside:)

My review of it is probably incoherent, but I would recommend this film:D

Animated: Spirited Away - I don't watch anime often or anything animated for that matter, but this was beautifully done, from the artwork, direction, to the story :)

Series: Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars - no matter if you've never heard of this series, one of the most beautiful movie finishes I've ever seen ♥

Went to see "Ninja Assassin" and I wasn't expecting anything great, but it certainly kept my attention:) I think my brain's sense of what is normal has been forever warped by Asian media, because while some people may watch this film and go WTF! I've already become used to the plotholes and cheesy goodness and pretty men:P

I do have to warn you that it is bloody gory, quite literally!
First 5 minutes and there's already a bloodbath. Was not expecting it, but I should've known ;P
That is not to say that this film was bad, but I certainly had some laughs:)

Best thing, there were only 7 people in the room, probably because it was a Tuesday night :P
So when Rain showed up, me and Frances screamed RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!! :D
lol, good times XD

The background of Rain's character, Raizo, was developed through flashbacks of his ninja training. Those were highly interesting and painful to watch ^^;
There was a mini-love story going on and the young girl, I think, definitely played a role in why he became the rogue ninja he did ;)
Anna Sawai played the teenager ninja and I couldn't help but think she looked a lot like Aya Ueto :)

The CIA or whatever's involvement in this created an air of mystery and intrigue, but really, it was just for the action later :P
I kinda felt bad for the ninjas even though they were killing people left and right. I felt bad, because they were being gunned down by modern technology, and seeing that...I can't help but feel like an awesome culture was being murdered.
Chad argues with me that ninjas have no honor, that they don't care who or how they kill, but I think it takes an amount of honor at least to be in a pact with brothers and to dedicate your life to something...even if it is murder.

At one point, there was a shot of Rain's resting profile with hair perfectly framing his face, and a cop/agent guy commented saying, "Ninja, what? He looks like a guy who should be in a boyband."
DIES LAUGHING IN THE MOVIE THEATER. No joke, man.
Me and Frances just busted out and we didn't care.
WHO NEEDS A BOYBAND WHEN YOU HAVE RAIIN!! :D
Ya know? I wouldn't love Rain as much as I do now if it weren't for rolling_scone's posts of his battles with Steven Colbert XD

And honestly, I have major respect for Ji Hoon ^^
I read up on him, and it turns out he had a painful past. He worked damned hard to get to where he is today. In 1997, the economic downturn caused his dad's bakery to close down, and the dad ended up moving to Spain, leaving the mom to support Rain and his sister. In the end, they lived in poverty, and while mom was battling with diabetes, he somehow got into a company called JYP. He was in a young boy band, but it turns out they were being exploited, and basically in a prison -dance rehearsals for 10 hours without food or drink.
Finally, Rain worked under another company's head as a junior and he basically grovelled and worked whatever he could to prove he was worth the debut, but people were still saying he looked 'ugly and needed surgery for double eyelids.' SERIOUSLY?! I know he looks much different now, but COME ON!

Anyways, the poor thing...his mom died just a year before he reached major debut and ever since then, he's been a self-proclaimed workaholic. He visits his mom's grave before a new project begins. Damn! He's not just another pampered idol; he worked his way to being an international star ♥
I don't really enjoy R&B music all that much, but I can't deny that he has talent :DDD
And there's my rant about movies ^^
