Urgh jacket...
This jacket really doesn't like me :( It was all smooth sailing til the stupid red bits, and then it decided to get funky and not work with me! I spent about an hour pinning the red stuff down, making sure it was sitting nice and flat. Then I realised it was way too thick!! argh! So I had to unpin the entire thing, measure and cut off about 2 inches, and then spend another hour pinning it all back down again! argh! Then it took me about 30 mins to pin on the gold trim along the bottom, and another 30 to sew it all on (the hem is HUGE!!!). And then there was the 30 mins per sleeve to pin this morning argh! It's jsut really irritating because it's all so fiddly and requires lots of pins, so it's really time consuming. So it's not being finished today :(
Tomorrow I need to do the red cuff extensions (including more gold trim). Then I need to shorten the lining hem, and hem it. Then I can attach the lining to the jacket. At this stage I'll probably leave the lining hem free (just hand stitch at the seams) coz I really can't spend 3 or 4 hours hand hemming it! And then there's the sleeve lining hems which will need to be sewn down (by hand). I'll jsut be glad to have it all done, I'm so over the jacket! It was fine until I had to do all the fiddly stuff!
But the good news is it looks pretty spiffy. So hopefully it's owner will be pleased with the result :D
I'm debating whether to finish it first thing in the morning (which will probably take me at least til lunch time) or whether to go shopping first (I have a few bits and pieces to pick up). hmmm
