Chapter Three - Hands
Next morning
Key was having a really hard time trying to find something to wear in his large walk-in closet. To say that his parents didnt spoil him was an understatement. Not only did their home look like a mansion from the outside, the inside was a whole other world. All white and gold marble, high ceilings and long hallways leading to twenty different doors, all containing something different. His parents worked hard to give him comfort and happiness, doing everything they can to make up for mistakes they were never responsible for. Key was grateful, he loved his parents with all his heart, he smiled gently to himself.
Looking back at the variety of brand name clothing he owned, he suddenly remembered why he was doing this. He was conflicted on how to act around Jonghyun. After that kiss yesterday, Jonghyun's been all touchy feely with him; making Key's heart race and his mind frenzy in a confused state. Jonghyun seemed like the type of guy that showed a lot of his affection, he saw it whenever he interracted with people. He was outgoing, outspoken, gorgeou-.......nice. Key face palmed, he needed to focus. Even though his mother told him to go ahead and try to fall in love, he was pretty sure Jonghyun was one hundred percent straight. He was just.....a really nice guy. He tried convincing himself.
A really nice guy.....that said 'yes' to kissing him for the rest of his life....how truly nice of him. Key shook his head and sighed.
He heard his phone buzz from his bed, indicating he got a text. Walking over to his large king bed, he noticed a text from Tae.
From Tae<3
Good morning sleeping beauty!
Oh yeah, Key looked over to the clock on his desk reading 7:00AM. That's right, he woke up two hours early to get ready, rolling his eyes as he garnered his attention back to his phone, another text coming in.
From Tae<3
Don't get mad but Minho and I aren't coming into school today. He planned the cutest planned getaway in Jeju.
JEJU?! Key's eyes widened as he read the text. Why all of a sudden?! Especially now, leaving him to fend for himself while he suffers at Jonghyuns hand.
To Tae<3
It's the middle of the week, why are you guys leaving now?!
From Tae<3
Because it's Valentines Day tomorrow dummy! We're getting an early long weekend ;)
Key sighed, thats right. Valentine's was tomorrow and here he was yet again, another year spent alone. Even Jinki has a girlfriend, he rolled his eyes.
From Tae<3
Why dont you take this time to hang out with Jonghyun-hyung? I'm sure he's free ;)
Eyes widened, Key was baffled at Taemins text. Is he being serious right now, teasing him with his one-sided crush? He was definitley not asking Jonghyun and he was one thousand percent going to cry tomorrow night with a bucket of ice cream in his lap; as he watches 'The Notebook' and 'The Vow' forcing him to bawl even more, all night long.
Don't get him wrong, he'll spend all day tomorrow collecting chocolates and love cards from his not-so-secret admirers. Girls and boys in his university think Valetines Day would be the day Key finally says 'yes' to them. However, in the end, he always let them down gently and went back to being the beautiful and untouchable Key. He was still a kind person, no matter how many times he would reject their gifts, he always ended up being forced to take everything home.
Key sighed. He has never given chocolates or cards to anyone on Valentines either. Not romantically at least, only giving gifts to his three best friends and his parents. Well....he thinks Jonghyun deserves somthing this year too. After all, he owed him his life. Not like Taemin and Minho will be there tomorrow to take his gifts anyways, so he might as well give it to Jonghyun. He smiled and shrugged to himself, proud at his excuse to approach the puppy-eyed man.
He sent one last text to Tae, telling him to enjoy his time in Jeju and to bring him back a souvenir. Also not forgetting to tell him to 'shut the fuck up' about the Jonghyun nonsense. No matter how much he wished it to be true; Jonghyun had to have someone to celebrate Valentines with, how can someone so gorgeous be so single. Not realizing that kissing Jonghyun every day, would have caused an issue if he was actually taken.
Looking back at his closet, he took out a pair of black skinny jeans and paired them with a white baggy sweatshirt and white sneakers. Making his legs and his ass too irresistible to look at. He tucks in the front of his sweatshirt and gives himself one last look in the mirror, nodding with an approving look. In the back of his mind, he hoped Jonghyun would notice the effort he put in...just a little.
Key made his way downstairs to the kitchen, expecting to see his parents at the dining table; however the kitchen was empty. Now that he thinks about it, the whole house was a bit too quiet. They usually go to work a bit later than him but not giving it much thought, he shrugged and made himself some cereal. Taking his time to enjoy his breakfast, his phone buzzed notifying him of a text. Looking at his phone on the table, he noticed a number he didnt recognize at all.
From Unknown:
Good morning Key! Hope you're not missing me too much ;)
Eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What the? Picking up his phone, he was about to send a 'who are you and how'd you get my number, you creep' text; until his phone buzzed again.
From Unknown:
It's Jonghyun btw. Jinki gave me your number, I hope that's alright :)
Key tensed. Oh god, Jonghyun has his number....fucking Jinki. Apparentley asking Key permission for things, goes way over the head of both Jonghyun and now his cousin. Will he ever get a break? First his kiss and now his number? What next, his virginity?!
.........Well if it was with Jonghyun, he'd think about it. Not like he wants to or anything, but if Jonghyun asks.....then maybe.....
Ugh why was he even thinking about such dirty things? He face palmed. Now he has a mundane amount of anxiety being in direct contact with his seatmate plus lifelong kissing partner. Not sure if he should be feeling happy or not. He sighed and decided he should at least reply if he's going to be seeing him today, trying to hide his excitement as a blush slowly started painting his face.
To Jong<3<3
Morning~ Definitley trying my best not to ;)
His fingers ghosted over the 'send' button for about a minute before deciding to just suck it up and send it; feeling a bit daring with his response. Well it was official now, he made sure to give Jonghyun a proper contact name, smiling at the two hearts he gave him. If Jonghyun can talk to him that way, Key will take full advantage of the situation. Plus, it's not like he had anything to lose at this point, not being able to hide his smile.
From Jong<3<3
Good, my legs are killing me from running through your mind all the time ;)
God....Jonghyun was the biggest flirt - and he loved it. His face turning crimson at this point. Looking at the time at the top corner of his phone, he eyes widened and quickly packed up his bag. He completely lost track of time, he didnt even finish his cereal, too focused on Jonghyun and his audacitiy to make him feel things inside.
"-nd Jessica keeps hinting at this ring we saw window shopping one time, and I'm really conflicted on whether I should get her that or this other necklace she's been eyeing."
"Hyung, i'm sure she'll love either one. If not, just buy both!" Key suggested, rolling his eyes at Jinki and smiling at his worried state. Jinki's girlfriend, Jessica, didnt attend their university. She was in the states right now interning at a magazine company, while Jinki supported her to the fullest all they way in Seoul. He really admired their relationship. 10 years almost hitting 11, the dedication and love they put into what they had, filled Key with happiness and slight envy. As always, his best friends continued to be role models for him. He smiled gently to himself.
"How's it going with Jonghyun by the way?" Jinki said, eyeing his cousin.
"Oh, speaking of! How dare you give him my number!" Key frowned at his cousin, hands going up in exasperation.
Jinki chuckled lightly at Keys overexaggeration. "It's not a big deal Key. Plus, I dont understand why you guys havent exchanged numbers already. With whats going on and everything."
Key scoffed, "Yeah whatever. You're not the one with this stupid curse. Im already feeling things I shouldnt...." he trailed off in a whisper. However, Jinki caught what he said. "And why is that so bad?" he genuinly asked.
"Because he's straight hyung. There's no way he's going to fall in love with me. Soon he'll grow tired and decide not to help me anymore, finding someone who he can actually love. Not pity." Key said sadly looking straight ahead, avoiding eye contact.
"Key...sometimes things are not what you think. Jonghyun can make his own decisions - and by the way, I know Jonghyun pretty well. He's a romantic at heart and wears his heart on his sleeve. If he falls for you, it wont be because of your gender. It'll be because of who you are Key, on the inside."
Key sighed. Jinki always knew what to say to put his mind and heart at ease, he was grateful. Halting their steps, he pulled Jinki in for a hug. "Thanks hyung. I really appreciate it." Jinki was always there when Key needed him the most, to the point where Key grew too attached as they got older. He learnt over time that his hyung also had his own life. He didn't want to rely so much on Jinki, he had his own problems to deal with. Letting go of eachother, they noticed Key's class come into view, a figure leaning against the wall of the entrance.
Jonghyun.
Key smiled instinctively, blush and smile not going unoticed by his cousin who was eyeing the couple. As they got closer to the door, Jonghyun looked up from his daze and made eye contact with Key. Both of them unable to stop smiling and blushing. "Hey Jonghyun!" Jinki gently hit his friends shoulder, "were you waiting for Key?" eyeing them both knowingly.
"Yes I was," he chuckled softly, his hand scratching the back of his neck. "Thought we could go in together." Key's heart was beating a mile a minute at their exchange.
"Oh wow Key, looks like you dont need me to walk you to class anymore. You have someone way more capable right here." Jinki teased both of them, laughing wholeheartedly.
"Alright enough, let's go Jong!" Not noticing the nickname slipping out as he took Jonghyuns arm and pulled him towards class. Jinki smiled at the couple and left.
....Jong? Said man was beaming at the nickname, too distracted to say his goodbyes to Jinki. He let himself be dragged to their assigned seats, a smile on his face as he looked at Key from behind. Daaaamn. Was Key's ass always this delicious looking? For a guy, Key was very feminine. Jonghyun assumed the 'curse' had something to do with that. Either way, Key was created by the gods.
Key hesitated to let go of the puppy-eyed mans arm, but decided against his needy heart and let go. He sat down at his desk, avoiding eye contact with his seatmate and unpacked his books from his school bag. He felt the presence of Jonghyun do the same.
"How are you?" What was up with Jonghyun and always asking him how he was. He groaned internally and glanced at Jonghyun, both of them instantly making eye contact.
"I-im....okay.." Key swore at himself for becoming a stuttering mess. "Just okay?" Jonghyun looked him in the eyes, searching for something. What was he looking for? Key coughed, "Y-yeah?" "You dont sound so sure to me." "I am!" "Prove it." Key froze, unable to respond.
"W-what?"
"Prove it." Jonghyun leaned closer as he looked at Key expectedly, smirking at his beautiful seatmate.
This guy must be crazy, Key thought, laughing awkwardly and responding, "You're funny Jong-" Key's eyes widened. Shit.
"Jong?" The older raised his eyebrows, smirking.
"I-I...mean-" Key stuttered, unable to find an excuse. "Thats the second time you called me that." Jonghyun interjected.
"I was just....I'm sorry?" "It's fine bummie. You can call me anything you want." Jonghyun smirked, "I like it when you call me Jong, its cute."
Key almost got a whiplash hearing Jonghyun say that. He knew exactly what to say to Key to make him go crazy, didnt he.
"I'll be your Jong, and you'll be my Bummie. Has a nice ring to it dont you think?" Okay, Key died at that moment. He officially hated Jonghyun. Not really. Key blushed and smiled, nodding gently unable to look the puppy-eyed man in the eyes. Jonghyun watched Key as he played with his own hands, looking nervous and cute as hell. He loved teasing Key, it was his new obsession lately.
Key froze when he felt Jonghyun take his hand and start playing with his fingers. "You're always playing with your hands. Are they that interesting?" Eyeing the delicately soft skin, playing with Key's fingers as he caressed them from time to time. Key sat there watching Jonghyun, his other hand on his lap while Jonghyun played with the youngers palm; drawing circles and tracing words onto his skin. Jonghyun decided he loved Key's hands. Lost in their own world, time passed by too quickly. Their teacher garnering their attention as she explained their homework, then dismissing the class. The couple didnt notice they held hands the entire class, caressing and feeling, an excuse to touch the other.
Letting go of Key's hand, they both silently pack their bags and walk next to eachother to their next class. They felt comfortable, at ease in one anothers presence. Jonghyun felt confused. Key brought something out in him that he kept burried away for a long time.
He wasn't a very great influence growing up, selling drugs, hanging out with gangs, always causing problems and not giving a fuck about his life. He did many things he regretted, hurt people that didnt deserve to get hurt. Jonghyun transferred to Jinki's university after getting kicked out of his own. Calling his longtime friend he met through primary school, he hoped Jinki would help him finally escape the fast life. A life that was becoming too dangerous. His family trusted Jinki, who wouldnt? He was kind and bubbly, every parent ever loved Lee Jinki. So they admitted him to the same university to study the same subject. Business Management. Jonghyuns family wasn't wealthy, so he felt the need to finally act his age and take matters into his own hands. He was only 23 years old, but he felt like it took time to be successful, so he couldnt help but feel as though he was running out of time.
However, he didn't realize a certain someone would step into his life. Kibum was beautiful. He couldn't lie and say he wasn't a tiny bit attracted to the younger....okay maybe a lot. He also couldn't help but flirt with the cute feline, teasing him until those gorgeous dimples painted his face. And that smile, those bow-shaped pink lips, the feeling of them against his....damn. Key did things to him a man never made him feel before. There was a first time for everything right?
When they arrived to their second class, Jonghyun pulled the chair out for Key, motioning him to sit, "My prince." Bowing down slightly, one arm behind his back and the other bent across his waist. Key smiled at the olders sillyness, taking a seat and allowing himseld to be pushed in. "Thanks Jong."
"Anything for you, my prince." Jonghyun smirked at him.
"You're so stupid.." Key blushed, dimples present and everything. "Only for you." Jonghyun officially loved teasing Key. He was too irrisistable not to.
They spent the rest of the time talking and laughing, their teacher allowing the class to have a free work day. So their second class went by pretty fast. Their teacher dismissed them and they packed their things to leave. As soon as they left class, they remembered. Jonghyun and Key almost forgot about the kiss. Almost. But of course, who could forget about a destined mind-blowing kiss.
As though they read one anothers mind, they glanced at eachother shyly and quickly looked away. Both of them unsure on who should make the first move. The cafeteria was slowly emerging into their sight, Key felt like he should just get it over with. It was better to kiss now then postpone it and end up having to do it in front of Jinki. Plus, he should at least make the first move for once.
Key halted in his steps and grabbed Jonghyuns arm. Leaning forward, he placed his lips onto Jonghyuns awaiting ones. The older was happily shocked by Key's initiative, smiling into the kiss, he moved his hands to Key's slim waist. Pulling Key closer into him as they breathed eachother in, getting lost once again as the kiss heated. Key brought his hands to cup Jonghyuns face, deepening the kiss. "Mmm..." Key moaned into the olders mouth, unable to control himself as Jonghyun devoured his lips, making him feel needy for more.
Pulling away, a string of saliva connected both their lips. Trying to catch their breath, they couldnt help but stare at eachother, confliction and hesitation behind both of their eyes.
Suddenly someone bumped into Jonghyun, forcing him to knock into Key and hug him tightly as they tried to balance themselves. Back to reality, they both looked away shyly and disconnected their bodies.
"U-um...I think Jinki is waiting for us." Key said, crimson colouring his face.
"Y-yeah...let's g-go." Jonghyun let Key lead them to where Jinki was seated.
"Hey guys!" Jinki waved them down.
The couple smiled and greeted Jinki as they took a seat in front of him. "How was your classes this morning?" The latter asked.
"They....were nice. Really nice." Key smiled, blush still subtle on his face. Jinki smiled knowingly, looking at Jonghyun as he nodded his head quickly agreeing with Key, looking just as shy. "That's good!" Jinki said, "So Jonghyun, do you have anything planned for tomorrow?"
The couple both looked up, for two completely different reasons. Jonghyun because he was genuinly confused and Key because he felt like he knew where Jinki was going with this topic of conversation. "Nope. Nothing at all." Jonghyun replied.
"You know its Valentines Day right?" Suddenly reminding Jonghyun.
"O-oh...yeah I know. I've been single for a while now hyung, you know that." Jonghyun looked down, almost hesitating to talk.
"Well Key's single too! Right Key?" Now bringing the attention back to the feline beauty. Key's eyes widened at the question as Jonghyun made eye contact with him, "I dont think tha-" "Perfect!" Jinki cut the younger off.
"I'm going to pick up Jessica at the airport and take her out tomorrow. You guys shouldn't be alone" the couple blinked confused at the information, "so I booked a table for the both of you at this super nice restaurant Jessica and I always go to. You love italian Key, you'll love this place."
"Y-you didnt have to hyung..." Key said, feeling super grateful yet an immense amount of anger was creeping up. Seriously Jinki didnt know when to stop butting into peoples business. More specifically, Keys business.
"I paid a non-refundable deposit so the both of you have to go." Great....
"That's amazing Jinki-hyung, I'd be honoured to take Key out tomorrow." Jonghyun smiled gently at Key, who was panicking inwardly.
"Great! It's a date you two." Jinki hollered at them, pleased with his work in getting the couple to spend Valentines Day together. He was the best wingman ever, the couple was basically taking eachothers clothes off, what more evidence did he need to know that Jonghyun had a thing for his cousin. And he approved, despite Jonghyuns bad boy days, he trusted Jonghyun to make his cousin happy. Thats all he needed, was trust. And if Key was this head over heals for the puppy-eyed man, then he'll do anything he can to make his cousin happy.
