Best Buy called today; my computer is fixed! Well, sort of. They told me that the video card Mike gave me is bad and that they wanted to do a system restore for $130. I said no, thank you, if it requires a restore I can do it myself for free, kthx. So the current plan is to back up my data onto a bunch of DVDs (if that doesn't work I'll make use of flash drives) and do a wipe/restore on the comp, which I was thinking of doing anyway, so the timing is fortuitous, I suppose. They said the sysrestore is needed because of OS errors, but I wonder if they're getting the startup error from my wireless card; if so, I am unimpressed. But it's usable and I can retrieve my data, so things are shiny.
