So B-Fest this year was interesting. Notable films included Superman IV, The Creature from the Black Lagoon 3-D!, Gassssssss!, Tromeo and Juliet, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Wizard of Speed and Time (short version), Godzilla (1998), Graffiti Bridge, Superbabies 2: Baby Geniuses, Coffy, and I'm sure there are others that are not coming to mind just now. Like that movie starring Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone which made me want to cringe. Of course Plan 9 was awesome; I slept through Gassssss! and Tromeo and Juliet, and als through most of Graffiti Bridge and whatever other film came before or after it. (I spent 4 hours sleeping on the floor - woke up, twisted to stretch, and my back popped in 8 or 9 places - and then another 4 sleeping on and off in my seat, so I hurt like all hell yesterday and today). It occurs to me that B-Fest was not as, well, universally bad as previous years. Nothing shall ever defeat Hieronymous Merkin from my very first year, though. Of this I am convinced.
But yeah, B-Fest was fun. Other attendees consisted of
spreadnparanoia, Downey, Kevin,
jrdameonhv,
king_biscuit, Natalie, newbie Dan,
bornofstardust, Marley,
bobbler,
herod_the_nut,
a_leprechaun, and some various other people-types.
pooka_madness, Blue Guy,
oberndorf, Rodrigo, and others were muchly missed. I won the "Space Zombie Bimbos" DVD, which has six barely-clad busty women on the cover and apparently features a character named Major Kent Bendover. Oh dear. *lol* Josh won the full-length Wizard of Speed and Time, which was pretty cool. And there were many tasty things i brought to munch on: prosciutto, French bread, sliced red and yellow bell peppers, sugar snap peas, and rice cakes (plus diet Dr. Pepper); I had Ho-Hos but didn't eat them at B-Fest and instead shared them at game.
Anyway. B-Fest was good. I went to Melzer's afterward for the post-B-Fest gaming, planning to run an Exalted oneshot. I was using an adventure seed from Houses of the Bull God (p. 50, the one with the Dynastic children on a school field trip getting lost without their instructor in the savanna), using Abyssals loyal to the Mask of Winters. I pulled from Melzer's game-world and decided that the Mask of Winters (in accordance with his alliance with Mnemon as noted in Dragon-Blooded) had sent a perfect circle to the Isle and slain Chejop Kejak, but in the process all but one of that circle were slain, so the Mask was recruiting new followers. Melzer played one of the Dynastic schoolchildren who had Exalted Abyssal when a leopard tried to kill him. Much fun and hilarity later, game was done. I really enjoyed running it, and I'm surprised it went as well as it did considering that the only planning I had done beforehand was to pick out the adventure seed I wanted to use, and to decide on the character type.
herod_the_nut played a Dusk Caste, a weird combination of Ilyn Payne, Gregor Clegane, and Sandor Clegane (gigantic, mute, and had been burnt at the stake at the Mask of Winters' command; is completely and perfectly loyal to the Mask. It was fun.) Jeremy played a Daybreak caste craftsman, while Natalie played the Midnight Caste Priestess of Oblivion, the leader of the group. They went forth, located Melzer, slew some hungry ghosts, fed him a couple of mortals to replenish his Essence, found the rest of the Dynast children, slew 50 Cult troops and one Cult Solar with Fivefold Bulwark/Solar Counterattack and orichalcum superheavy plate plus an orichalcum reaver daiklaive (this did not take nearly as long as one might assume it would, since John had the Abyssal charm of "me kill extras" and slew all 50 of the mortals in one turn), watched one of the Dynastic children Exalt Earth, and took the children back to the Mask.
herod_the_nut decided he wanted the Earth-Aspect because she was surprisingly calm in the face of all this (her name was Cynis Whore; the game also featured V'neef Dumbass) and petitioned the Mask for such. Petition granted. XD Amusing considering that Cynis Whore slept with Melzer right at the beginning of the chron. All kinds of hilarity.
Um. Yes. Came back and hung out with Jeremy, who was reading the NWoD corebook, while I went back through old LJ entries and tagged them. HOW THE FUCK did any of you put up with me my first few years of college? I mean, seriously? I was such a whiny fucking bitch....ye gods. Over stupid inconsequential shit, too. Although going back through all of this has made me realize that I really, seriously needed to get professional help at that time, and didn't. Live and learn. Next time maybe I'll listen to
pooka_madness. :) I did actually tag several entries as "angst, goth, whine" because I coudn't believe how ridiculous I was being. I'm up to November 2002 (journal was established July 2001). I took so many fucking quizzes back then. Yeesh. At least I know those reduce as I get older LOL.
I got around 7 hours of sleep and now I am wakeful, sitting in the living room (which is quite dark due to the cloudiness outside) with the cat, and thinking about getting dressed so I can run over to Walgreen's and get stuff to make lunch. Maybe I'll wait until
sabrielrose and
calhin wake up and see what they're planning on doing for lunch.
