So my first full day at the beach has been very rainy, thus not so much with the sand and sea. I did read Elizabeth Lowell's new book, The Colour of Death, which I thought was quite good and displayed her usual talent for dialogue, although the characterization was rather more lacking than I am accustomed to in her writing. Meh, enjoyable more or less.
Then I got out my laptop, thinking I'd do some work on a story. My cousin Amy, aged 10, was peeking at the screen and I got really self-conscious about it, because I was skimming through Wyrdborn, which has some highly inappropriate language and some definitely inappropriate situations for someone her age. It was just very weird to have to think about what was on my computer screen. Eventually she got distracted by her latch-hook project and I could work in peace. I also finally got through the damned block on the scene I'd been writing, so that was great.
We had seafood for dinner and then Mom, Dad, Alison, Amy, Aunt Linda, Uncle Chris and I roamed up onto the boardwalk. Alison bought Amy a hermit crab and we roamed around. I looked at some bikinis with Mom, we'll go back later and I can try them on. Yay! We went all the way to the other end of the boardwalk again (round trip is probably 2.5 to 3 miles, we did this last night and tonight). Nice exercise. Amy and I stopped to do some DDR, since they have that stuff all over the boardwalk. I failed horribly. LOL. I'm now all motivated to buy a dance pad and DDR for my PS2, though, as a means of working out. It has the distinct advantage of not requiring me to GO anywhere, which is a big one in my book. I'm so damn lazy. LOL.
On the way back, we stopped and Mom bought me a very cute little tennis skirt in pale blue. So now I have a nice short skirt and I'm content. Tomorrow Mom and I are making breakfast for the family--apple-cinnamon quiche and scrapple. Mmmm. Grandma Mim and Uncle Geoff made wonderful cream chipped beef this morning. Must remember to snag recipe. Love cream chipped beef!
So now I am here, and tired, and talking to
shocollar and
pooka_madness. Now for Neopets!
