good things end too soon.

And so vacation is winding down. It has been a good one, and something I really needed, I think. I didn't get to do some of the things I wanted to do (sometimes things beyond my control, and sometimes just me deciding that a different thing was more appealing at that precise time), but I did do a lot of relaxing and productive things. I edited two chapters of my novel (out of seven for a goal this month), I beat one game and made progress in others, I read three books, and I kept the house reasonably tidy.

Today being the last day of vacation, it has also been a day for getting chores done; I changed the sheets and made sure all the dishes were clean and changed the cat boxes and scrubbed the cats' water fountain out and took out the trash. I haven't vacuumed yet, but I might do that tomorrow. All that's left to do for today is make dinner and drag the trash cans down to the curb for pickup tomorrow.

The last couple days of vacation were pretty quiet. I woke up Friday morning with an absolutely atrocious headache (having not been able to sleep Thursday night due to the same; I think I managed 4 hours) and decided that no, at least one day during this vacation, I was going to go out for breakfast someone else had made. So I dragged myself out of bed and off to one of the local breakfast places where I love the food but the line on weekends is always ridiculous, and got tea and Eggs Benedict, and between that and a couple glasses of water and two Advil I conquered the headache and came back home to play video games.

Yesterday I went out to brunch with Wizera (since I wanted a good reason to get up at a decent hour), and then we came back here and I played some of FFX-2 for her since she has an interest in Paine from RP things but hasn't played or seen the game. Eventually she headed out and I went back to playing FF14.

I have made very little progress on Heavensward content (I'm still doing level 50 quests and my Summoner is level 52), but I got Bard to 47 and Carpenter and Culinarian to 40, and I've been working on my Zodiac weapon because I want those achievements (and now the process of getting them has been nerfed so it's not as annoying.) I finished my final book on Friday and got started on alexandrite farming, which has *definitely* been nerfed for the less-annoying, and I'm about halfway through that stage. I'll probably finish it up tonight.

I'm not quite mentally ready to go back to work tomorrow; I'd be delighted to have more time off and to be able to spend more time just doing whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it. But since I can't have that, I do think this vacation was long enough to do me some good. I do miss my paladin, though, and he won't be back until Tuesday. He's been away overseas at my sister-in-law's wedding, and I think this is the longest we've been apart since we moved in together. In some ways it's nice having the house to myself and having no one to answer to, but at the same time, it gets a bit lonely with no one but the cats for company.

Okay. Time to make dinner and then I can play video games until it's time for bed.
