I am ready for spring now, please.

Ugh we are back into -45 windchill territory next week. On the days I must be out and about to do things for the wedding that cannot be easily rescheduled. why do I live in Chicago? This is a question I am asking myself many, many, many times this winter. AUGH

why do I live in Chicago?
Think this every time I look at y'all's winter weather.
I can handle the cold (I ride my motorcycle to work in temps down in the teens) but I grew up in the drier cold of an area the lake freezes over, and the winds tend not to be as bad or wet from seeing any open water.

You know, most years it's not nearly this bad! This year is just brutal, though. I know how to dress for the cold, but sometimes even that doesn't help.

If you lived here in DFW Texas it's a balmy ...freezing (or just under depending on where in the massive metroplex you are.
Much warmer!.
did I mention it was going to be 65 tomorrow and 70 sunday?
back to chilly monday & tuesday ... 40 highs 23 or so lows.

Back before you young whippersnappers were born it was like what you are getting plenty of times. But the pacific, jet streams, and the Sun have conspired to make your life the frozen circle of hell again.

Where I'm from in Maryland the winter temperatures usually hang out right in the mid-thirties and rarely drop below 30 or so at night. I'd gotten used to Chicago, but I got used to Chicago-light. At least over the years my relatives (apparently remembering the Bad Old Days) have buried me under a pile of cold-weather gear, so I don't have to go out and buy any of it. (Though I need new gloves. Mine are giving up the ghost. In fairness they're like 10 years old.)
