Albenga is a pretty town on the Ligurian coast, kind of a mini Asti as it also has lots of towers build by medieval lords, clergy, rich merchants . . . towers were _the_ status accessory in medieval Italy (or whatever Duchy it then was).
One of the former palaces now houses the Museo Navico Romano, the Roman Ship Museum, housing artefacts retrieved from Roman shipwrecks off that coast. Pride of place goes to the amphorae: a massively heavily laden freight ship (like today's container ships) went down and was found with them still in situ, so they are displayed as they were stacked in the ship's hold.
