The Colle di Superga is a hill on the outskirts of Turin, mostly nature reserve but with the seriously Baroque Basilica di Superga at the summit.
I think
morbidfrog would enjoy the basilica; it's the resting place of most of the kings of Savoy and so is both lavishly gilded and funerally gloomy, but we'd gone there for the historic rack railway and the views over the city to the mountains that encircle Turin.
Lovely view of Turin and Mon Visio in the distance, taken from the railway as it ascended. Possibly one of my favourite photos from the whole trip.
Pretty evening view from the station buffet at the top. It was a cool Victorian building, with lots of ironwork bannisters and fancy brass: excellent setting for a steampunk photoshoot :-)
