I'll need a distraction

This will be very short since I am currently swamped by RL and because I'm still working on that Darcy appreciation post.

1) The latest LJ "upgrade" involves a system-wide friends page with infinite scroll. Since LJ has a long history of not listening to its users and I think infinite scroll is one of the worst system features ever invented, I'm ( Read more... )

The story was solid, we had the tech for the CGI, there were quality actors involved (poor, poor Hayden), ugh, it was so hard to watch it fail. Jar jar. *shudders* But yes! Young Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, oh my goodness. <3

!!!! I loved all the short story collections; I'm pretty sure I have all of them (Jabba's Palace, the Mos Eisley Cantina, the Bounty Hunters; hmm actually some of them might be the collected stories from the Star Wars Journals). Timothy Zahn was my first. I read his original trilogy and that was it for me. I bought all the books I could find at my local used bookstore and borrowed the rest from the library. I didn't really like Kevin J. Anderson (I think he and his wife have fantastic ideas, but their writing skill just isn't on the same level as the other writers, IMHO) but I love Timothy Zahn and Michael J Stackpole and Aaron Allston. I adore Mara Jade with the intensity of ten thousand exploding suns. <3

Oh yes! I know exactly what you mean. I particularly love the authors who are able to tie everything into the main continuity so well. Most of the zine stories (if you're talking about the Journal stories??) are all canon, so I think Corran Horn first appears in one of those journals before Rogue Squadron was written. The comics were a bit harder to follow so I've only read some sporadic volumes. I haven't started the Fate of the Jedi series (because I'm pretty sure my heart will be broken) but I've read most of the others, NJO (hate hate HATE OMG SO MUCH HATE), Truce at Bakura through the Corellian trilogy, the young Jedi series (ugh why are you so bad Kevin J Anderson), even the Junior Jedi Knight series (also really bad but hi there Tahiri ILU). Rogue Squadron is definitely up there; I adore all the characters, Wedge, Corran, MIRAX ILU MIRAX, Janson, etc. Wraith Squadron is also pretty amazing. My favorite is definitely everything written by Timothy Zahn though. He's just such a great writer. I have SO MANY Star Wars feels, Polly, I don't even know how to get them all down. I could talk about Star Wars for hours. XDDD
