Hello from Dallas!
Hi lovelies! I'm sitting in a cute Korean bakery/cafe with my college roommate drinking a taro milk tea smoothie and using their free internet. ♥ I thought I'd finally have a chance to do all the internet things I wanted during my Dallas vacation. Read all the fics, send all the emails, beta all the things, as you do. Hahaha I'm not sure what I was thinking. XD In between visiting my college friends and family friends and Christmas shenanigans, I have literally not stopped moving since last Thurs night when we first arrived. I haven't read any of the books I brought with me or watched any of the movies or read any of the Yuletide fic. =/
Things I have done instead:
1) Bought an embarrassingly large number of books from various Half Price Bookstores (20% additional discount on top of the half off cover price; who can resist such a thing? NOT I) - including the next 2 Quantum Gravity books on sirona_gs's rec, a bunch of le Carre novels, Noises Off (I FINALLY have my own copy!!), and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and The Demon's Lexicon (thank you, sorrynotsorry, for the recs!). My trunk will be FILLED WITH BOOKS OMG.
2) Watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy!!!!!!!! ALL THE FEELINGS OMG. It was a wonderful movie, very quietly suspenseful and filled with powerful performances. I thought they did a marvelous job of adapting the novel. Wigged Tom Hardy was charmingly attractive, Gary Oldman was fantastic as always, and Benedict Cumberbatch was FLAWLESS, like I think he kind of stole the show sort of flawless. My college roomie was kind enough to go watch it with me even tho it wasn't her type of movie and she enjoyed it, too. :)
3) Incepted my childhood friends into watching Sherlock. They'd just bought an enormous 50 something inch TV and we watched it on streaming Netflix. GLORIOUS. Now they're flapping their hands and waiting for the new season, too. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
4) Eaten delicious food and taken pictures of said delicious food. My tummy is very happy with me. :D
5) Read Renne's wonderful Bucky/Steve zombie apocafic and cried all the tears and read K8's charming Inception/River Monsters crossover and laughed all the laughs.
Things I still need to do: a) finish setting up my dreamwidth account (link me to your DWs, bbs, so I can add you) and import my LJ, b) watch Grimm and SWAT, c) finish the beta jobs in my gdocs (thank you for your patience, darlings!), d) read everyone's Yuletide recs
So if you're wondering where I've disappeared to, I am not dead in a Dallas back alley, nor am I ignoring you, I promise! I just have had almost no access to the internet except for random 20 min intervals at like 3 AM. >_< I hope you are all doing well and enjoying Yuletide! To spice things up, I give you Bucky Barnes, protective BAMF!
