Hello hello! How is everyone's week? Awesome, I hope. :)
1) Anyone else planning on watching Pirates? I'm one of those odd people who enjoyed Pirates 2 and 3. Can't wait to see Captain Jack Sparrow in a new adventure. :D (I was always really disappointed that they never brought Zoe Saldana's character back tho boo)
2) End of the world commentficathon going on
here, for anyone who's interested. Zombies! Apocafic! Death and destruction!
3) Haven't watched the season finale of Bones, NCIS, NCIS:LA, H50 or the latest Chicago Code because I've been so crazy busy. And tonight is the finale of Grey's. So many things to watch! Excited and apprehensive!
4) TSN fandom has become my happy place. There are so many incredible things I've been reading (extra thank yous to the unofficial-official @TSNwip brigade on Twitter,
sometimesalways,
laliandra,
myricarubra, I love you), far too many to rec individually, but
sometimesalways has put together a
TSN fic primer that's super helpful.
5) Getting really excited about my trip. Have started stocking my nook with fic. Priorities, I has them. <3
This has been an amazing week of fic (at least for me). I'm practically twirling with glee all over the place because I've read so many amazing things. Recs in no particular order:
1)
You had me hooked at Cthulhu by
onthecount (Arthur/Eames, PG13) - How YouTube almost, maybe, possibly ruined Arthur’s life and improved Eames’ one thousand times over. This is the Best Thing Ever. I love this fic. I want to cuddle it to my chest and never let it go. It's adorable, sweet, and hilarious. It's multi platform in the best possible way (and I'm a total sucker for multi platform, thanks to
candidlily and her wonderful
You're Waiting for a Stranger)!
2)
The Hounds of Morrigan by ninhursag (Kirk/Spock/Uhura, NC17, warning for graphic violence, rape/non-con) - In an alternate world where the federation fell and it all went horribly wrong, Nyota Uhura has two hounds, dark and bright. And they're going to save the world, even if they have to break it first. After all, what did the world ever do for them? I don't read much Trek fic but this one caught my eye (mythological reference, I was powerless to resist). It's fantastic, dark and wild and intriguing, a reboot of the reboot, a terrifyingly realistic universe that sucks you right in.
3)
good road (home) by
wldnst (Arthur/Eames, R) - eames hates his life, gets drunk, and ends up stateside. then there is a road trip.
wldnst is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. I love the dialogue, the details that fill the story with life, the slow-burning UST. I could read this over and over.
4)
With regard to the shadowboxers by
weatherfront (Arthur/Eames, R) - Arthur and Eames sabotage each other's jobs-- until they can't anymore. Or: How Arthur and Eames Learned to Stop Worrying and Make Their Own Form of Social Capital. I'm sure everyone's read Ifrit's RBB by now but in case you haven't, I urge you to do so post haste. It's witty, it's charming, it's sharp and soft all at once, in short, it's all the things that I love in one beautiful package.
5)
Place that don't know my name by
antistar_e (Mark/Eduardo, Amy/Rory, PG13) - Looking up at the mess of stars above New (New New New) Singapore, he stops being Eduardo Saverin, absentee CFO of Facebook, and starts being Eduardo Saverin, time traveling companion to a mad man in a blue box who keeps on calling him Frank. A TSN/Dr Who crossover. Guys, this fic and it's
sequel are some of the best things I've ever read. I'm having trouble articulating the depth of my feelings (the sequel had me bawling, that's how invested I was). This fic made me wish I knew more about Dr Who than what I've randomly picked up from other crossovers, it made me want to watch TSN over and over again, it filled me with so many feelings I felt like my body was going to explode because it couldn't contain them all . The characters, the plot, everything was so complex and intriguing and WONDERFUL. *happy sigh*
6)
Permanent Press by
jibrailis (Arthur/Eames, NC17) - Arthur/Eames domestic adventures. Or: the mystery of Eames' disappearing underpants. Or: what Arthur wants to do on his birthday. Or: how Arthur and Eames learned to live together, put up with each other's weirdness, and learn that being a BAMF doesn't mean you can't also be a dork. One of the funniest things I've read in weeks. BERTRAM. Arthur's drunken karaoke! OH NANCY. <3
