Belated intro post
I meant to write this ages ago. Procrastination, what? So here's an introduction for the lovely people who read the random stuff I write. :D

About Me: Hello! I'm Laria. I love reading, making new friends, and playing volleyball. I have a younger sister who is the best thing on this planet, no lie, and I adore her. I'll watch any type of movie except scary movies (because I like being able to sleep and jumping at small noises makes you seem unhinged) and certain comedies, but my favorite genres are action and drama.
I'm pretty new to fandom (though I read a ton of Sailor Moon fanfiction in middle school, there's a funny story about my first experience reading fanfic that you can ask me about later) and when I first started this journal, all I did was write movie reviews to empty internet space for fun (because that's how much I love movies) and occasionally lurk in Draco/Ginny and Star Trek XI land. Then Inception happened. And my internet life would never be the same. XD
About Inception: I almost didn't watch it. I wasn't excited about it until the week before it premiered when they released a more substantial trailer than the folding Paris scene (which was cool looking but why no story, trailer?). Even then, I only went to see it opening weekend because a guy I was going out on a first date with was super gungho so we saw Inception the Saturday it came out. I was enthralled by the movie (not so much the guy sadly). I came home and joined the fandom on day 1 and it's been a super fun ride! :D I started out shipping Arthur/Ariadne but I've discovered that my true ship is Arthur/Ariadne/Eames, and I ship all of those permutations equally. I enjoy all the different ships and I'll read any pairing if it's written well. So far my contribution to Inception fandom has consisted mostly of squee and beta duties and I've only recently started writing fic.
I'm only active in Inception fandom right now but you're more than welcome to try to convert me. :D I watch less TV than I used to but I still keep up with these shows: Bones, NCIS, The Closer, Grey's Anatomy, Top Chef.
What I'm hoping to watch soon: Merlin (sarea_okelani is sending me discs!!! Thank you, Sarea!!), Sherlock, and the rest of Nikita. I want to catch up on White Collar and House, but realistically I don't have time. =(
What you can call me: Laria, Lar, L, I'm not picky. I think nicknames are awesome so if you want to come up with something, please go right ahead. =)
Where my user name came from: Laria Lyon is a character from an Anne McCaffrey novel that I thought was the bomb when I was 13 and now have downgraded to "just decent." The character's grandmother's surname was Gwyn and I thought it would sound pretty if I smooshed it together. Even at 13, I was motivated by the pretty. :D
Where I was born: Singapore! Land of chicken rice and mee bok da. Our food is the best, yo. I love it to death despite having grown up in the US. My Singapore pride is STRONG and FIERCE.
Where I live now: East coast of the USA. Sorry, Arthur, no specificity here.
What I thought I was going to do with my life: I was an English major who was going to be an editor in a giant publishing house in NYC. That was before I realized I had no contacts in the industry and no job experience (thank you, non-working visa) and was effectively SOL. Ah, well.
What I'm currently doing with my life: Working for a computer company. Yeah, I don't know how that happened either.
What I'm actually doing with my life: Still working on it. Dreaming big. =)
What I do for fun: watch movies, talk about movies, cook, eat, read fanfic, edit fanfic, write crappy fanfic that I never almost never post because it is crappy, ultimate frisbee, talk to my sister when her bf isn't taking up vast amounts of her time (no, I'm not jealous, why would you think that), brainstorm ridiculous elaborate plans to prepare for the zombie apocalypse with my friends
How to pick me out of a crowd: You probably can't. I'm barely 5'2". Specifically, I'm a short Chinese girl with naturally wavy hair that I permastraighten, a small torso, and womanly hips. Finding clothes that fit right is always interesting. XD
Random things from my bucket list: learn to drive stick (in a perfect world, I would know how to drift), fly in a fighter jet (they are the COOLEST THINGS EVER, right Nance?), swim with the dolphins (dolphins are almost as cool as fighter jets, maybe even cooler), go snowboarding (or skiing; I am so clumsy, I am probably going to fall down the mountain but I don't even care), visit New Zealand (because it's gorgeous) and Italy (the food, the scenery, the people, the ART)
Things I like: people =), boba tea, *crime shows*, hot showers, driving, chocolate-covered strawberries, Ziva David, hugs, AUs
Things I dislike: insects, oatmeal, crappy drivers, weak/stupid heroes or heroines, waking up early, wet squishy socks, my posture, Rihanna's voice (not her songs, just her voice)
If you actually read all of that, you are a saint, and deserve my ♥ forever. :D
