A rather slow start to February

I'm feeling pretty meh at the moment. Hair dye is currently percolating (technical term...ish) because I had planned on going clubbing tonight for the first time this year, but I'm feeling tired and fed up and I don't think I can actually be bothered.

On the work front, I had my first day for the new job and things are looking mostly positive there. Still no written contract besides the offer letter, but I have filled in the forms which will make me exist on the various systems and am promised a mobile, a laptop, an email address and have been pointed at a likely corner to work in one day a week, to be sorted out over half term. Also, long talk with the Chair, who still seems to be a good balance of idealistic and pragmatic, and observing of first meeting (turns out they have the Local Authority clerking service for full GB meetings until the end of this term, but I'll be doing the Committees and other ad hoc stuff like appeals pretty much straight away).

Drama continues at one of my other schools, although you wouldn't know it from the emails to me from the person kicking up the fuss, in which she is all politeness and friendliness. If it weren't for the emails and phone calls from my line manager and the HR bods who've been trying to calm her down and giving me instructions on what to say/not say, I would honestly have no idea that she is having weird paranoid thing in which it seems everyone is out to get her and my judgement can't be trusted. Ah, well, worse things happen at sea, I suppose.

It's been a rather home-y beginning to the month: more gradual progress on the declutter, a couple more attempts at cooking real food ('linguine con salsa de spinacci' and then 'spinach with ricotta and broken eggs'), etc.

The main thing of any note away from home and work has been some seriously old-school roleplaying, starting a game of Stormbringer with A, nezumi_sama and Seth-who-is-not-on-LJ. But, hey, let me not tell you about my character. ;)

Oh, and we finally managed to book something for my birthday, so I am planning for my first time off of any serious length since term started in September...

work, gaming, life stuff, food
