And this is why--

I need to move out.  Or, at least surround myself more with people who understand my obsessive nature.  It's not really 'obsession', more like extreme fascination.  Like, I know lots of silly little details about weird things I happen to pick up along the way and my brain, for whatever reason, stores them away.  For example, those very small rectangular 'windows' in castle walls?  They're crenels, spots where longbow archers would loose their arrows without exposing themselves to their opponents.

The point of the story?  I latch onto things, like a ramora on a shark.  I grab it and don't let go.  Like with my love for Lord of the Rings and Supernatural.  And my first love the Titanic.  This is actually the whole point of this post.  The Titanic was discovered only a few years before I was born, and it fascinated people even before the movie came out in the mid 90s.  I ate up everything I possibly could, and then went to see the movie not for Leo (because I was a tad bit too young to realize what made guys appealing) but for the history.  Not that there was much, but still.  This past weekend was the 100th anniversary of the sinking.  Which, of course, meant documentaries up the wall on just about every educational channel.  My family doesn't understand my fascination, so I got about two hours of documentaries in on Friday before they'd had enough.  Anytime I had the remote and the word Titanic popped up anywhere they claimed I'd already seen it, because they'd heard that information before so I HAD to have seen it how else would they know that stuff?, and change the channel.  ARGH.  They're documentaries, on the same subject, of course most of the details are going to be the same, it's written down and documented and doesn't change unless there's a major discovery.  JUST LET ME ENJOY MYSELF, PLEASE.

TL;DR I didn't get to fulfill my Titanic fascination as much as I wanted to this weekend.  Thank you, uncomprehending family. >_<

warning: personal, things to talk about: history, warning: geeking out
