Hanging up my Tooth Fairy Wings

Jan 11, 2011 00:49

I'm all for giving a kid a dollar for losing a tooth, it's part of the joys of childhood. But who decided that the tooth fairy needs to stay up past her bedtime to make sure the child is deeply asleep, then not disturb him while trying to locate the tooth under his pillow. Tonight did not go well. My first attempt was 11:30pm, seems late enough, right. I didn't even step into the room and Preston woke up screaming while I dashed back down the stairs. Cameron, being the comforting big brother that he is, called to Preston to come sleep in his bed with him. Now there are 2 heads on the pillow. I go back up at 12:30am. I make it into the room but for some reason the floor boards creak next to the head of his bed. No where else in the room, just the area right next to his bed. Feeling around for the baggie containing a tooth, trying not to move my feet, once again Preston starts to stir. I give up, stuff the dollar under the pillow and leave in shame without a tooth. Seriously, I quit.
