Ten Questions of DOOM meme
I got tagged in the 10 questions meme by inkvoices so here are my answers. Then I'm supposed to come up with 10 questions and tag some people. Seems easy enough. *grins*
1. What's one thing that you're looking forward to this year, and why?
I'm looking forward to going to my first geeky type convention. I don't know if I'll get to go to Comic Con or if it'll be something smaller like Starfest or maybe I'll work up the courage to check out Dragon*Con. I've wanted to go to a con for the longest time and I decided this was the year! Just the thought of being surrounded by so many like-minded people is very intoxicating! Also, I'm turning 40 this year and I'm sort of looking forward to being an even number that's divisible by 5 again.
2. An interesting thing that you learnt/found out recently?
Did you know that the girl who plays Luna had an eating disorder and met JK Rowling early on (book 5?) and was inspired to get healthy (she and JKR conversed throughout her convalescence) and try out for the part. She may or may not have been offered the part by JKR - I wasn't able to substantiate that part of what I heard. Anyway, I thought that was really interesting. I don't know how long the story has been out there but I only heard about it a couple of weeks ago.
3. What're your comfort clothes?
I have a couple of pairs of pajama pants that I change into as soon as I get home. I usually add one of my worn t-shirts, the kind with holes from too many washings. And some fluffy socks. I love fluffy socks!
4. What would be your dream holiday?
A small cottage, somewhere in a picturesque countryside (does those still exist?), with WiFi and public transportation that will take me to interesting sights and shopping. I would, of course, use my time wisely and spend most of it writing! I would! I promise!
5. The trigger for you joining your first/your (current) main fandom?
The answer is the same for both! I wanted to find like-minded people who would appreciate the fandom the say way I did! I didn't know "fandom" existed when I first went looking for one. I just know that I wanted to see what other people thought about the Harry Potter books and if they had any ideas about what was going to come up. Now, I pick what fandom I spend time in based on if I want to create for it. I have many interests and watch a lot of things but only some of them inspire me to create. I've loved the Avenger fandom because it's brought together so many people who might never otherwise come together. There is something to be said for such a big fandom!
6. What was the last book you read? Liked it? Not? Why?
I'm currently reading Lunch in Paris - A Love Story with Recipes and loving it! There's something about a life lived somewhere else - and appropriate recipes for that life - that makes me want to curl up and just absorb the book. I just finished the audiobook of Hounded by Kevin Hearne and enjoyed it enough to grab for the second book! I've got a thing for Paranormal/Urban Fantasy and this hits all those buttons. Talking animal? Yes. Irritable werewolves? Check. Fae getting in the way? You bet!
7. Your "trapped in a lift (elevator) survival kit" would contain...?
My Kindle, a notebook, several pens - because all three of those are in the bag I carry with me all the time so I know for sure that I would have those. I would probably toss in some dice (you can play an amazing amount of games with six dice and they're small so they don't take up much room in any survival kit), several protein bars (I've a fondness for Luna bars), and a couple of bottles of water. I think I'm set!
8. The first site you go to when you get on the internet?
This is the OCD order I open my windows every time I get on my laptop - Gmail (and then GDocs from that link), LiveJournal, Facebook, Pinterest, Neopets (I've gotten back into that site for the games because I'm tired of Facebook telling everyone what I'm playing!). I generally close down Facebook pretty quickly because it's a huge distraction that takes away, clearly, from other distractions. *grins* I stay up WAY TOO LATE pinning things on Pinterest these days but I tell myself it's all going to come in handy someday.
9. If I give you the prompt 'red', what three sentence fic do you come up with?
1) She knew she needed to do something about the blood spreading like a carpet over the concrete but all she could concentrate on was the red smear on her palms, an affront to her good hygiene.
2) Every box of crayon she ever received, either as a present or in her school supplies box, was missing the red crayon, as if it had despaired of a life of coloring doll dresses or rainbows and decided to try to escape to a household that would appreciate its hue.
3) He thought about scrubbing off the red lipstick stain on his cheek but decided better of it when he realized he finally had proof that the girl from the third floor knew he existed.
10. Zombies or vampires?
Zombies are growing on me (can't wait to see Warm Bodies) but I'm going to have to go with vampires on that list. If only you had asked me about werewolves...
