A Weekend Well Spent

Today was birthday party day! Both my nephew (2 years old!) and my middle sister (35 years old!) had an Elmo birthday party. SO! MUCH! FUN! N's Elmo cake was made with red icing and M's pirate cake was made with dark-purple-so-dark-it's-black icing. Needless to say, we'll all be brushing our teeth a couple of times tonight!

The weather was GORGEOUS! It was nice at home but like 15 degrees warmer in Boise.

Not only did we get to eat cake but they let me go shopping for a bit this morning at Fred Meyer. I got new soap (black currant and plum - it smells divine) but also some new books!

01. The Rise of the Iron Moon :: Stephen Hunt (3rd in the series... and I realized tonight that I don't have the 2nd in the series yet)
02. Fate's Edge :: Ilona Andrews (3rd in the On the Edge series... I knew when I bought this that I still need to read the 2nd)
03. Last Breath :: Rachel Caine (11th in the Morganville series... another series that I need to catch up on)
04. The Shifter :: Janice Hardy (1st in the Healing Wars series... HAH! I tricked you! I bought something that isn't in the middle of a series)
05. The Mysterious Benedict Society :: Trenton Lee Stewart (1st in the Mysterious Benedict Society)

Incidently, if you like Roald Dahl (I'm thinking Matilda here), you'll probably really like The MBS. I started reading it on the way home tonight and found myself smiling because of the way the words worked together. I have a special love affair with Matilda and love books that are simliar.

I bought a papasan from Amazon and it came this week and I finally got it set up when we got home. It's not as big as I wanted it to be so I can't use it as a computer chair but it's going to make a lovely reading seat. Still looking for something to sit in at my computer desk that isn't just a plain ol' chair that is too tall for the keyboard stand.

Listening to Ben Folds on the Nerdist Podcast. Between that podcast and the Nerdist Writers Panel, I'm getting a workout from laughing so much! And I'm actually getting quite a few ideas and/or motivations from the NWP.
