Summary: a snippet of story using "Forest, Anticipation, Turn" as prompts
Kilce's eyes go wide with shock and confusion as she listens to the story that Rika is telling her. If her first words hadn't been, "I've been to the Library," she would have turned and walked away. Two people, in the space of two week, have used that word in conversation. The first left her bleeding on the ground. The second was the very same girl that rescued her. She can't help but feel that it's connected... and not in a good way.
"You don't believe me." It's not a question but a statement of fact, as if the girl has given up all hope of being understood. In anticipation of being disregarded, she turns away with a sigh.
It's that dejection that touches Kilce. She does't know why Rika is talking to her about the Library or her flight through the forest at the corner of the campus that Kilce never remembers seeing before, but it means something that she was person picked. This is something that should be rewarded with kindness.
She reached out to grab the thick material of the girl's cloak. "Take me there?"
"What?"
"Take me there. Show me what you mean. I can't quite comprehend it without seeing it for myself."
Rika's face is pale but it grows even paler as she realizes that Kilce wants her to do. "I don't... I don't know if I can."
"What do you have to lose? From what you said, this Librarian is the only one who can right the wrong that's been done to your friend." She can't even say Tevan's name for fear that he will suddenly show up to leer at her as he has for the past few weeks. But that's not important now. He needs her help. Rika needs her help. For the first time that she can remember, Kilce is needed. it's a heady enough feeling to see her through to the end of this strange expedition.
