I was sick for most of the run of this challenge and I didn't do a lot of leaving the house. Fortunately, I live alone so this means that most every single minute of the day, I'm alone. I decided to pick a patch of time when I was feeling better. I didn't go very far, though. My outing consisted of me laying in my bed, staring up at the ceiling and being so incredibly happy that I wasn't hacking and coughing my way through the allotted time.

There are four walls. A ceiling. A window or two. It is safe and secure from the weather while most all of the sounds of the traffic are muffled. The laughter of the neighborhood children filters in, muted so that it's impossible to tell who is who, only that they're not killing each other which is good. There'll be no need to interfere today.
The empty mug beside the bed could be a problem. There hasn't been warm tea in the mug for an hour and it's been empty for nearly twenty minutes. While there's a cup of water right beside the mug, it's not the same thing. Water is nowhere as good as tea, even lukewarm. Still, it's liquid and it lubricates so the scratching isn't so bad. Too much scratching and the coughing begins in earnest. Once it begins, it'll be hard to stop again.
And sleeping. Why is sleeping only fun when it's done for a few hours each night, under cool sheets with a pillow plumped up just right? When it's something the body has to do to continue to function, it becomes a chore and it doesn't matter how plump the pillow is or how cool the sheets are.
The laughter has stopped. Either they've decided to go inside or the kids have found something so absorbing they've forgotten to scream at each other. Here's hoping the weather has gotten too cold for them and the pull of their electronics has pulled them from their outside games. It will be bad for everyone if this group has put their heads together and found something so interesting that they've been rendered speechless.
Maybe they could use a nap. I know I could.
