Monday
When there's green beans on Monday, Sanne knows there's going to be trouble. Mrs. Henley only makes green beans when she's irritated. When she gets irritated on a Monday, that means a whole week of trouble. There'll be no chocolate biscuits or puddings. If Sanne's lucky, she'll be able to convince the housekeeper to be liberal with the pepper pot. If not, she'll have to hold her nose to get them down because Papa said there would be outing to the coast if she didn't finish every bit of dinner for the next week. Green beans will be her undoing.

Tuesday
"Today is the third."

Becca acknowledged her husband's comment with a nod. In fact, that was the only indication that she'd heard him.

"Becca, today is the third."

This time, she looked up. "And what is that to me?"

"They said we should know by the third. Today is Tuesday. The third. Aren't you concerned?"

"Not like you." She sat back, her hands automatically going to the round swell of her stomach. "I'll just be content if they're healthy. What difference will it make if we know the sex of the babies?"

Cam shrugged, not able to answer for once.

Wednesday
Everything was not all right. Quinn had to accept the possibility that she was never going to get well. Loah kept trying to come up with different treatments but there was nothing that did any good. As she sat at the kitchen table, a mug of tea in her hands, she tried to word her declaration just right because Cara would argue this decision. Since it was Wednesday, she had a couple more minutes before Cara brought Svea home from school. Just enough time to compose herself so there weren't tears in her eyes when they walked through the door.

Thursday
The Littles had broken out of their playroom by way of the broken latch on the side window, intent on the plate of biscuits they knew would be cooling on the counter. It was Thursday, the day that Mrs. Henley did her baking. There wasn't much that had them breaking out these days, seeing as they'd gotten tired of having their toys taken away when they acted up. But these were special chocolate biscuits. These biscuits were intended for the party tonight. The party that the Littles would not be invited to. They were determined to have their fair share.

Friday
"I'm not ready for this vacation to be over." Suze stretched her arms over her head, stretching out the muscles that had gotten lax from spending hour upon hour in the sun. It would be hard not to fall asleep without the sound of water lapping the beach filling the room. Besides, Fabian was more relaxed here. That was nice, having a husband who took the time to actually look at her from time to time.

Like now. He smiled, holding his hand out to her. "Let's stay until Friday."

"That's one of the best ideas you have ever had. Agreed."

Saturday
"S... A... That's your name, Sanne."

It was hard not to laugh at the Littles as they worked on their letters. They were so easily distracted, especially Charis. While Caelan was the first one to really get the concept of reading, it was Cahya who had taken the idea and run with it. Sanne liked to pull out the things she'd worked on during the week at school to share with her sisters. This particular project was a school work schedule.

"Yes. Saturday and Sanne start with the same letters."

Caelan grinned widely. "I like Saturdays but I love you."

Sunday
It was Sunday and Cara, Quinn and Svea sat on the dock, their legs dragging through the cool water. In the heat of the evening, it was a good place to talk.

"I want to go with her. Sanne will need someone around so she doesn't do anything stupid."

Quinn hit her husband when he let out a burst of laughter. "It's admirable, love, but you'll be missing out on a lot of school."

All Svea did was shrug, as if she hadn't gone over that possibility a thousand times in her mind. She wanted this trip more than school.
