End of Year meme gacked from mfirefly10

Your main fandom of the year?
That would pretty much be Stargate Atlantis. The communities are still thriving even though the franchise officially has nothing in the works. The best thing this fandom did for me, this year, is that it got me back into reading fanfic once again. I haven't been a reader in YEARS. The ( Read more... )

(Out of curiosity, what are your ships for Harry Potter? 'cause if it's within what we in the fandom call the OLSB - Old Lady Smut Brigade - it's about finding the right fests/communities. We all tend to get pretty close, which is fun!)

Back in the day, I mostly just wrote Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff but I've expanded that to First Order and then that Founder fic that was really fun to write.

I'm sure that it would just take me finding a community that I liked and then responding and participating. One can not make friends when one is quiet and sits in the corner, after all.

As you know, I LOVE The Hunger Games! I would rec the first 3 books in the Vampire Academy series, but I wasn't impressed with the last three. I've seen people talk about the Black Dagger brotherhood. Care to tell me more about it? (Basically, are the female characters awesome/do they get lots to do?)

LOVE Florence, Love everything Who-related. SO excited for THG movie and I'd definitely approve of Hardison/Parker/Eliot becoming more canon-like, especially after the last episode gave us some really cute Eliot/Parker beats that I think we'd been missing, as of late.

Hmmm... BDB... Well, there are men and there are women. The men are, at first glance, hopelessly flawed, yet when the women come into their lives, they are changed for the better. The women get to be awesome in that they fight to become equal partners with the men but it's not exactly a female empowerment series! They're engaging reads and I find myself smiling when I read them.

I liked the Eliot/Parker bits but I ALSO liked the Eliot/Hardison bits! They give me hope... and some interesting shadows to play with!

Eliot/Hardison is one of the few bromances/slash ships I actually like, so I always enjoy their scenes :)

Urgh. Good luck with the Song of Ice and Fire. The first 40 pages are the best, IMO. Then again, I would probably title the series Song Where Good People Are Stupid and Evil Always Wins. *snort* I have an irrational passionate hatred for that series.

I've seen that sentiment so often but I'm determined to get through at least the first one since I bought it for the Kindle! Last year! I have no other reason to watch the TV show after this first season so I don't really need to read the other books but I do want to read the first to see how it compares to the show.

Oh, that's true, it is always interesting to see how a book and movie or show compare. :)

I love your icon. It's so bloody true.

I've been thinking of checking out The Mortal Instruments series. Was it good?

Yay for getting someone to start reading! I love it when people realize they just don't like reading because they haven't found the right books yet :D

You really NEED to watch Fringe. It's so good.

As soon as I get through streaming Flashpoint, I will start streaming Fringe. I guess I could, technically, do them both. And you should totally watch Doctor Who, BTW. Was going to post that on your meme and probably still will. I think you all would really like it!

While I wouldn't say that I'd rave about The Mortal Instruments, they've been interesting. Also, I'd read Holly Black's books and I guess the two authors are friends and some of the characters from the other's book will show up in them. It's been forever since I've read the HB books, though, so I didn't recognize anyone right away.

I'm really loving Doctor Who! I was in love with Rose from the very first scene, so that's good :)

Me, too. She will always be my favorite! I'm glad you like it! It's a good series. One of these days I have every intention of going back and watching the earlier ones.
