Just to clarify, I don’t have anything against sex. I love it! I think sex is wonderful, and fun, and one of life’s pure joys. Yes, I am monogamous. That is probably because I grew up with a Disney view of love and intimacy, which I hold on to because it makes my own world good. I've noticed a direct correlation between how smart, mind bashingly intelligent, someone is the more weird and esoteric their interests and hangups. Furs are beautiful that way. Sometimes I think I'm too boring to be part of them.

Much like how so many people I know who are absolute geniuses with advanced computer programming are also introverted and at least mildly autistic.

One of my dear friends is a tran-sexual programmer, actually. :)

I think you and I share much of the same beliefs & policies reguarding intimacy and monogamy. There is a time for sexual exploration, curiosity, even permiscuity; but not when it comes to protecting yourself. You have only this body, in this lifetime - and it has to be taken care of.

And while I genuinely don't believe in the "open relationships" and "shared partnerships" many in the fandom hold dear .. I won't pass judgement on them either because our opinions merely differ.

Not necessarily. I have some friends that are quite monogamous who are very involved with furry.

There's a sense of creativity in furry that's wonderful, but it does lead to a disconnect with reality at times. The subculture of promiscuity is part of that problem in my opinion - and I arrived at that opinion after being a part of that subculture for a few years. So I am now monogamous, but I am so by choice - not by default. And that's a choice I do not regret.
