So last night I came home from a long day at the gym. It wasn't a bad day, just long. My day started at 5:30 a.m. and didn't end 7:30 p.m.. Now before you go feeling all sorry for me, I did have a couple hours break in the morning. So anyway, I come home after doing my first fitness testing with my first client. I'm all excited to write up her fitness program. My boss, Natashia, made a cd for me of all her programs so I could use them as a template and make my first program writing experience much easier. Bless that women. To go off on a bit of a tangent here, I really appreciate working a for a Christian boss. She is very understanding, very encouraging, and I love the fact that we can discuss spiritual things when we have a free moment. Ok back on topic. So I put the cd in the disk drive and i hear a buzzing noise. I'm thinking, "ok. it's loading. Give it a second." So I wait for it to load, then suddenly the disk ejects. WHAT THE!!! I try again. Same thing happens. So I try a couple other cds and the same thing happens. GRRRR!!! Have i mentioned that my computer is only three weeks old? And so now I'm quite certain that I'm going to have to take it back to the store to be fixed. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if the store wasn't 100 miles away!!!!
So I'm hoping and praying that it's something that can be fixed rather quickly, because I really can't be without my computer for long. Fortunately, I have some pretty amazing friends who let me use their computer at 9:00 p.m.. Although, I'm sure my friend Mark was silently mocking me for purchasing a mac over a pc. I managed to get my client's program written and emailed to Natashia. That relieved a bit of stress.
Today, I was hoping that whatever was wrong with my computer last night was fixed by the little computer gnomes that live in my house. But alas the gnomes must be on vacation. The disk drive was still not working. In fact it was even worse, because today it wouldn't even take the cd all the way into the drive. Fortunately, at work today, I had to transfer a patient to the hospital in Bismarck. I was able to take my computer to Best Buy, where of course the geek squad member quickly told me that it will have to be sent off to Apple to be fixed. The geek squad guy told me it would take about two weeks, but of course I'm sure that means two months. Sigh... What is really ironic about all this is that three weeks ago it was no big deal to not have a computer. Now it's only been a few hours and I already miss having my laptop immensely. How quickly we adapt. On a silly little side note. I'm really hoping to have my computer back by October 16th as I will be flying home and I to pack some items in my laptop case so that I won't have to check any bags. The airline I'm flying on doesn't charge for checked luggage, yet, but it's still a hassle and if I can get away with carry-ons that would be great. So I'm really praying that my laptop is fixed by then.
