Yesterday we went to the Jeep dealer with the intention of test driving a vehicle they had that was configured similar to what we wanted. Unfortunately we couldn't find it and upon further inquiry it had been sold over the weekend. Drat.
Instead we wandered around the lot and poked at a few vehicles, checking out the seats, storage space and soforth. Talked with one of the salesmen and ended up going inside and ordering what we wanted because we're weird and picky and they didn't have anything that we wanted on the lot (or in the state for that matter ... found one in Provo, Utah!).
Chris had a copy of the sticker for the one in Provo and we told him that was what we wanted except for the interior color (went light).
Did the little negotiation song and dance, which I was surprised we got to negotiate with ordering it. Put money down, got a receipt, and now we wait. The estimated time of delivery is 6-8 weeks ... funny my ETD is about the same (closer to 6 weeksn but still). If we're really lucky we may get it before D-day as the salesman said they often get them in quicker, but they say 6-8 so people don't get antsy.
They sent us an e-mail with a link so we can track the car's progress. So fancy.
of course this morning the little car was having some minor issues. After dropping Appy off at the vet it started running quite bad and the engine light came on. I stopped briefly at the shooting range to pick up stuff from Mom and then B-lined it to Oren's. Thankfully it turned out to be a dirty spark plug causing a misfire. It's running great now. It just needs to keep doing that for another 6-8 weeks so we can trade it in ... because of the miles on it we basically get the parts price. We were expecting that, but it still makes me a little sad that it isn't worth 10% of what I bought it for 11 years ago. It's been a really good little car. We'd keep it if it didn't almost cost it's value to insure each year. It's sad that the new Jeep costs less than $10 more a month to insure than an 11 year old car.
Anyway! Now we wait and see and cross our fingers we qualify for a descent interest rate when we go to finance it. I fear my credit ian't as good as it was when we bought the truck and the debt on the truck factors in too (two more years...).
