Aua!

I impaled my right middle finger yesterday. I was pulling up some obnoxious weedy ornamental grass and I am not sure if it was as I pulled up the grass or on the rebound, but a nasty stalk of it went right through my finger just below the bend of the last joint. About as thick as an alfalfa stem, under about a 1/2" strip of skin. Thought I could pull it out, but there was a good 1" of stem sticking out either side. I thought about pulling it out, but it was tight in there and I was not going to slide that through the skin!

In hindsight I should have grabbed an X-acto knife and cut the skin above the piece of grass to avoid trapped infection. As it was I had Chris cut it with scissors (it took effort, it was thick!) and then I slid it out before scrubbing it with hibiclens, alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide.

We took Talon to Horseshoe last week and again this week. This was a clip from the first few minutes of the ride.

We did lots of trotting and cantering after. This week she didn't have any grand gestures of protest and did much better. We have a show next Saturday, wish me luck!

I have to post something otherwise I will post nothing.
