Yup, I watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I don't see why everyone's complaining about how it's just for kids...I mean, I can see where they left out blood/etc. for the sake of the kids, but that's about it. Almost everything was to the letter in the book, except the opening scene (which was added to give the viewers a sense of when it was taking place and why they left, which didn't need to be explained when the book was written (since that was published in 1950)). I mean, there were a few corny parts but I actually expected it to be worse from all the complaining...
I really enjoyed it, a lot. I love Tumnus! He was my favorite character (besides Aslan, of course), tied with Lucy (who I always viewed as the smartest of the four ;)). Maybe it's just because I read the book...but it was a lot of fun, and the kid actors weren't actually bad (unlike another movie remake of a popular book series *cough*harrypotter*cough*). They interacted well, I thought.
And man, the detail of the world! All the animals and creatures and fauns and centaurs...they went through so much work for that movie, and the scenery was beautiful.
Maybe it just brought out the little kid in me, but nonetheless I enjoyed it a lot. It's been a while since I've seen a genuinely good book-movie translation (in fact, this was probably the best I've seen...I, Robot was a good movie but didn't really follow the book at all, since it was just based on it...and I'm not even going to talk about Harry Potter).
I mean, don't go watch the movie and expect it to have full-scale blood-and-gore-and-RAAHDESTROY attitudes in the battle scenes, but just leave your cynicism/adult-ness back at your computer for later when the movie's over. Sometimes things geared towards kids end up being better than most things geared at adults, and far more enjoyable if you let yourself just be a kid again for a little while. I mean, geez, it's not like the book was very adult-oriented either, so expecting the movie to be and then being aggravated/letting it detract from your overall enjoyment of the movie when it isn't is rather ridiculous.
ANYWAY.
I enjoyed it!
