Hellsing came in. It's really excellent, definitely not just your typical action manga. There's a lot of references to mythology (like the title, which is referenced..."The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame," which comes from a scroll of alchemy written in the 16th century called the Ripley Scroll), and a lot of links to various novels and fairy tales (Rip van Winkle), and the Bible (the Catholic church and the protestants are not on good terms XP).
Anyway, that was nice to have it come in. My userpic for this entry is Seras Victoria (no one really knows if the name is actually Victoria Seras in Western terms, or if "seras" should be translated as "ceres" or "celes" or just keep it as "Seras"). She's my favorite character. She's sort of quirky but also plays a key part in one of the main themes in it, which is if you can be human while being a monster of darkness at the same time. Yes, in a lot of ways Hellsing reminds me of my own TDH. ^^; Alucard can also summon creatures from darkness, along with some other crazy parallels.
Here they are. Yes, I know the animated one sucks...but I'm no graphic designer! ;) I just made these for my own use.
The Bird of Hermes avatar or the first "slide" of the animated one I edited a little with lighting effects, just for grins. I made Alucard's glove stand out more and made the edges of the picture dimmer. I like it better than the original, personally, but yeah. I found the pics at the Hellsing gallery on
this useful website.
