So I quit/retired/went on an indefinite LOA from derby. I wanted to make sure my team didn't hold on to yet another skater who couldn't commit to the team. Drafts were coming up and I just don't know if I can skate next year. I want to. I like to skate. But since I twinged my ankle several months ago, I've never gotten mobility back in that joint ( Read more... )

Re: derby... I took an LOA because I want to give myself the possibility of coming back. I know a lot of my issues with PLAYING derby are health related - depression/lack of motivation and energy, being a fatty and out of shape, and these fucking shin splints. But I was already pulling away from the league drama as far as the administrative side was concerned. But you're right, I do love my team, I should see if I can find a way to support them. We have a bench coach, and I'm not really a pep talk giver, but maybe I can help somehow.

I hate to see you drop your school stuff. I understand that you may not decide to pursue it career wise right now, but I feel like you should at least complete the damned thing. Also, I am interested in it and will be so proud of you when you finish. But if it's keeping you from other things... then I get it. And if its a financial hardship... I definitely get it. :-P

Josh had me basically convinced on the whole thyroid thing and then the doctor kind of dismissed it. I needed general bloodwork done anyway so he tacked this one on to shut me up. But he also dismissed my ankle and it really bothered me for a lot longer than I expected. So perhaps I should not assume that this guy doing his residency has any fucking clue. And then the magic thyroid pill will make me skinny, awake, and happy! Hooray!

*hugs* I miss you hon. I do think about moving back to DC a lot because I had some friends there that I really value.
