a curse danced for No One

None share with her, her second world--
past this that all find real.
None comprehend her butterflies;
Nor can they pass the flutter veil
to lift the hope-missed girl beyond it.
No! Not One; she dances for an empty hall,
to melodies of fanciful in-expression,
performing Not for this world,
though it's true that here, she's seen;
in which place is she lovely, then,
within the both or neither dream?
Knowing Not; but she, enraptured in,
the aftertaste of bitter tea,
sees stage lights bound by tick of time
illuminate the inward room,
where Once was One offered a seat.
but, No! He said No! -- and how
her dancing Now means Nothing!
is her life just meant to yearn?
for he-her-world loved Not her
butterflies freed from her net,
why-was thus the veil made by her hand?
and chance did he misunderstand--
what insects spelled as if in lights --
"Once abandoned, forever lost"!?
No! -- he knew the words, but did Not care!
And Now she cares for No One!

poetry, love, angst
