"Sehun what the heck where are you going?" Jongin stopped Sehun before he slunk out the door of their beach house for the fifth night in a row.
"I'm just going for a walk on the beach," Sehun replied, face blank and undeceiving.
Jongin side-eyed him a little, but his face remained the same, so he sighed out, "okay, have fun kid." He watched Sehun go, then left only 10 seconds after him. "What does he even do out there alone without wifi?!? I'd kill my self oh my god," Jonging keeps muttering to himself as he sees Sehun sit down near some rocks a few meters ahead-where he'd found Sehun a few days ago, soaking wet and looking like he'd seen a ghost.
Jongin quickly hid, before taking out his phone and recording a quick message, "Operation Sehun's Being Dumb Again begins now." (Can you feel the cousin-ly love).
After what felt like hours to Jongin (but was really only a few minutes - must be withdrawal) he heard a soft plink from the ocean, and saw Sehun straighten up. He did the same, and set his phone to record again.
"I heard a sound, and Sehun's sitting up now, and leaning forward? What the fuck is he doing. The waters kinda rippling now, idk," Jongin says, spelling out the acronym. "There is now a crab on my foot fUCK." Jongin spent the next five minutes trying to get rid of the crab, getting pinched by it about 15 times in the process, and completely missed the whole reason he was there in the first place - to observe Sehun being dumb.
He looked back up after settling down behind his rock again, and there was someone sitting in front of Sehun. She had long, long brown hair, thin arms and WOW she wasn't wearing a shirt. Jongin went into momentary shock thinking about how Sehun might've gotten to second base before he did. He soon came back down to earth when the girl flipped her hair over her shoulder and OH MAN THAT'S A BOOB.
Sehun's ears turned beet-red, which was obvious even from afar, and Jongin scoffed, muttering, "what a fuckin nerd," under his breath as he fanned his own red face. He turned back to his phone, which had been recording the whole time. "All I have gathered from this mission is that Sehun has some kind of summer fling going on with a girl who is at least half-naked, from what I can see. Goodbye, fellow agents, I'll report back when I have more news."
Jongin was bored, experiencing withdrawal from the internet, and had sand up his pants, so he turned back and headed home, not even sparing another glance to Sehun and the Mystery Girl, not even noticing when there was another soft 'plink' and she disappeared into the ocean with a flip of her pink, scaly tale.

"I'm going out for a walk!" Sehun was grabbing his jacket off the coat rack by the door, when Jongin practically fell down the stairs and grabbed his shoulder harshly.
He leaned in real close to Sehun's ear and said quietly, "I know about the girl, I want in."
Jongin had never seen more emotion cross Sehun's face. He was frightened, confused, and panic-stricken all at the same time. "You... know?" He turned his head so that his nose and Jongin's were practically brushing, and Jongin had never been in a more intimate position in his entire life.
"Damn right I know," he latched onto Sehun's wrist with both hands and tugged a little, "take me with youuuu, I wanna do stuff with hot half naked girls toooo!"
Sehun shushed him harshly, before looking around a few times and nodding discretely. "Ok you can come. But don't be lame. And never come this close to me again in your life or you may need to start buying jeans with a tighter crotch."

"How far do we have to go?" Jongin asked, hands in his pockets, stepping softly in the sand beside Sehun. Jongin was good at playing oblivious when he wanted to be.
"It's not much farther, just to where those rocks are up there." Sehun pointed with his chin, and kicked the tide with his left foot, his right still on dry land.
When they reached the rocks Sehun threw his jacket off and way up the beach, where it wouldn't get wet no matter how high the tide came. Jongin followed his actions and settled down on the sand next to him, letting the warm water wash over his toes.
There was a familiar 'plink' in the air, which Jongin ignored, as he turned to Sehun and said, "so when do the babes get here?" Sehun rolled his eyes and shushed Jongin pointedly, before leaning closer to the water. There was another 'plink' and the water rippled, before dark eyes were visible just above the sea's flowing surface.
The eyes showed a look of alarm for a moment, before taking in Jongin's appearance (his eyes were bugging out of his head, jaw to the ground, looked kinda scared too) and crinkling a little at the edges. The rest of the head surfaced, and then the petite body Jongin had seen from a distance the day before followed.
The girl gave Jongin a judging look before turning to Sehun and asking, "who is he and why is he here?" Jongin's face only served to become more hilarious when he heard her speaking.
"What the fuck is happening to me am I going insane am I hallucinating SEHUN FUCKING HELP ME WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?" Sehun looked at Jongin nervously before turning his attention back to the Thing that Rose from the Ocean (Jongin's really creative okay) and giving a subtle nod.
"Okay," the Thing (it's shorter) said, "first off, nothing is happening to you except you're stupid as fuck. Second, wow that's rude, I'm obviously a mermaid?" She took that opportunity to flick her tail up, and Jongin gaped at the scaly pink tail that lifted out of the water for a moment. "Third, who the fuck are you?" She had gotten closer with each point, and was now up in Jongin's face, sneering at him and poking his cheek with a long, sharp nail.
Jongin turned to look at Sehun, face as pasty as ever. (This also marks his second intimate position in his life, as he is currently Very Close to a Half Naked Girl who happens to be Really Pretty). "What do I say?" He croaked out, voice gone hoarse.
"Just introduce yourself, pretty basic stuff," Sehun shrugged and Jongin didn't think Sehun realized that he WASN'T HELPING AT ALL.
Jongin turned back to the girl, who had moved back a bit, and was now sitting in front of him, examining her nails.
"Um I'm Jongin, Sehun's cousin. Nice to meet you, mermaid." He nodded nervously and bit back a (more) terrified expression when the girl looked at him fiercely. Then she smiled and he felt as if all his troubles had melted away.
"I am Baekhyun, daughter of Suho, MerKing." She now had an aloof, haughty attitude, Jongin noticed, and he wasn't sure how Sehun had managed to snag her (no offense to Sehun of course).
"Well this is... interesting," Sehun mumbled, slender fingers stroking the sand to his right, not making eye contact with anyone.
"Hey Baekhyun," Jongin started, shifting so he was sitting on his knees. "I mean... I know I don't even really know you that well," or at all, really, "but maybe next time could you bring one of your many hot friends I'm assuming you have because you're a mermaid and they're all hot?" Jongin was out of breath by the time he finished his question and Baekhyun rolled her eyes at him.
"You don't know me at all, and," she turned to Sehun sharply, "he's coming again? Also, are you saying I'm not good enough for your tastes?" Baekhyun came up really close to Jongin again, her hair hanging low in front of her chest, exposing bits here-and-there as she almost crawled towards him.
Jongin swallowed uncomfortably and tried (but failed) to keep his eyes from shifting down to her chest. "No that's not what I was saying at all," third intimate moment in one day, he thought to himself, "I just mean because you're with Sehun and all..." Baekhyun blushed a bit and moved away from Jongin.
"We're not together," they said at the same time.
"This might take a while," Jongin muttered under his breath.
"But yeah ok, I see where you're coming from. Sounds like a plan. Maybe then Sehun and I can actually talk?" Baekhyun looked to Sehun, seemingly consulting him, and then nodded back at Jongin. "Ok, deal." Jongin does a small celebration dance, while Baekhyun and Sehun share a Look that says all it needs to without words.

"Hey. Hey Sehun. When are we going out to the beach?" Jongin leaned around the corner of the kitchen door, surprising Sehun who was eating a bowl of cereal.
"Later. It's only 10 in the morning, I just woke up. How do you have so much energy?" Sehun's voice was as incredulous as it could be while still rough from sleep.
Kai grumbled until Sehun deemed it the appropriate time for them to set off. When they reached the rocks, Jongin's stomach was doing flips. He felt uneasy, but he was excited too. He tried to copy Sehun's relaxed movements as he stretched out on the sand, but was unable to and his body continued to shake with excitement, up until there was a faint 'plink,' when he froze in spot.
Jongin sat up eagerly, Sehun following right behind him, and it wasn't long until dark brown hair began to rise out of the ocean, another head right behind it.
When the second set of eyes rose out of the ocean, Jongin became fixed on the other girl, gaze steady as he followed her slow, measured movements. Her eyes were cat-like, and her hair was dark - much darker than Baekhyun's, almost black. Her nose was rounded and she had thick, pink, kitten lips that curled up at the edges. She was noticeably nervous, but it just gave her a darker aura.
"Sehun, Jongin, this is Tao. We've been best friends since we were children." They both gave a cute little wave, Sehun smiling shyly while Jongin stared openly, unabashed.
Tao seemed uncertain of what to do, and she floundered for a bit, before making eye contact with Baekhyun and turning back to the boys, calming herself.
"Hello," she began awkwardly, "I'm Tao." Compared to Bakehyun's introduction, this was rather simplistic.
Jongin was still overwhelmed by her beauty, barely taking in anything else. (He almost didn't catch her name.)
"Jongin, nice to meet you." And when her mouth curled up into a cute little smile, Jongin swooned and realized, he'd finally experienced love.

The next day, Jongin accompanied Sehun to the rocks again, and Tao was there too.
"Goddamnit, we need privacy, we're going over there." Baekhyun pointed vaguely into the distance and she swam off, Sehun following her on foot.
They were alone. They were alone, and Jongin still hadn't said one word to her other than his initial introduction and - oh fuck she probably thinks he's dumb or something.
"So... what are mermaids really like?" Jongin asked, and Tao's head snapped up at the sound of his voice. she looked lost for a moment before answering.
"Well, we're not vain, that's the most important thing. Also we don't kill humans. That often." She laughed and Jongin chuckled nervously along because she said /often/.
"Do you have seashell combs and starfish earrings like in all the movies?"
Her expression brightened and she pulled out a seashell comb, just like the ones Jongin was referring too. "We have these combs. They're given to us at birth by our parents. But no, we don't have starfish earrings. That would hurt too much." Tao began brushing her hair, separating it into thick sections with her fingers before moving the teeth of her combs through the ends first, working her way up.
When she finished a section she flipped her dark hair behind her shoulder, exposing the smooth pale skin of her chest. Jongin blushed, but apparently she thought nothing of it, and continued on her task, combing through the rest of the strands.
Beautiful, Jongin thought to himself. Except apparently not, because then Tao turned and made eye contact with him, mumbling out a quiet "thank you" and flushing red herself. It wasn't only her cheeks that were dusted with the light pink though. Jongin could see the tips of her ears and her nose growing pinker as well.
Cute.
She became a shade darker.
Ok why the fuck am I saying all my thoughts out loud.
Tao laughed.
Jongin laughed.
"Hey, you really are beautiful." Finally something he meant to say out loud.
"Thank you. You're very good-looking too."
When Sehun and Baekhyun came back 20 minutes later, hair disheveled and cheeks pink, they found Jongin and Tao moving their lips together in a long, slow kiss.
