Title: A Way
Series: None; one-shot
Rating: PG
Characters: unspecified
Pairing: unspecified
Disclaimer: Lies.
Word Count: 110
Notes: Yup, more non-descript angst. Brought to you by: 31_days (more vital than sane); femslash100’s weekly challenge #241, Maps; and femslash100’s 2010 Tarot Challenge 13, Death.
Summary: The only escape left was to quit. But it was too early retire.

There was only one escape left: if she wanted to get away, she would have to get out entirely. She’d have to quit.

She’d lose everything else, too, though, and even if she knew it was most likely for the best, it didn’t feel worth it. The risk was too great.

She was too young to retire, even considering the situation; there were medals and titles in her, yet. And she wasn’t prepared to sacrifice what little she did have left on the off chance that it could all be over. It couldn’t be worth it, not yet.

There could still be some other way.

She just had to wait.
