Well, for better or worse, I went ahead and created a Paypal account for donations towards Fluffy's veterinary bills. It's simply titled "Help Fluffy".

I don't remember if you can donate anonymously or not. It's unfortunately been awhile since I've had the financial means to donate to anyone. I don't expect and will not fault anyone for not contributing. This is merely a last ditch effort to try and save my cat, which I am unable to do on my own.

I don't have a scanner, so here is the estimate I was given:

$30.00 IV Catheter & Fluids w/Surgery
$65.00 Pre-Surgical Blood Screen/CBC/Lytes
$65.00 Anesthesia injectable/reversal
$100.00 Radiograph 10x12 2 Views
$25.00 Surgery Monitoring
$148.00 BIOPSY (SOFT TISSUE MASS)
$161.50 Biopsy w/Micro Description 1 Sample
$40.00 Hospital Surgery Stable Condition

$634.50 Total

This is if the vet does everything she wanted to do, which includes removing a large portion of the assumed tumor. I inquired about only doing a basic needle biospy, which she said could possibly not be comprehensive, but to do that would be $350 for the anesthesia, biopsy, and a day's stay at the hospital. (I got that estimate over the phone so I don't have the exact costs to list.)

I also feel the need to state up front that if it is cancer then it means my cat is dying and there's nothing else that can be done but to make him comfortable until he has to be euthanaized. I just don't want anyone to be under the assumption they're donating to a cure. However, that is the worst case scenario. Fact of the matter is without a biopsy they don't know for sure what it is. It could be something that can be treated and I'm desperately hoping so. I am just not comfortable resigning my beloved cat to death when we don't know 100%, especially when the vet seems surprised when I say he's still affectionate and has an appetite. (She said when cats are ill they quit eating and withdraw.)

Meanwhile, Fluffy's going on a liquid pain medication that's been referred to as the cat version of Advil. The lump is still mostly unchanged. I can't tell if he's in pain, but I assume there's discomfort considering the size of it.
