Don't you know that being able to wipe the rest of the world off the map within 10 minutes of a decision being made is way more important than taking care of our elderly or feeding our poor? yeah, the Planned Parenthood thing frustrates the heck out of me. I keep in touch with a few Setonites who are very conservative in their Catholicism (will not mention any names) and while they're good people with good intentions, yeah, some of the things they post tend to raise my blood pressure. And although in SOME senses I consider myself to be pro-life, I'm very cynical about the "pro-life" movement and how much caring about life is actually behind it. I'm just now learning more about Planned Parenthood myself and they've sooo been tarnished by the link to abortion which, as you stated, is not the majority of what they do.
Basically, people's (not mine :P) priorities are all wrong. It seems that most people are adamant about defending their ideologies rather than actually working for the betterment of society.
Well, those ideologies mean that the rich stay rich and get richer, and the less fortunate get ground ever further into the mud. If they worked for the betterment of society they might not be quite so disgustingly rich. Most CEOs earn my ANNUAL salary per day. There is just no reasonable justification for that--and I am above the median by a not-insignificant margin
