Trini, Mark & Manny
Friday afternoon we went to see Trini & Co. this makes the 3rd week in a row. i think? yes, i think so. Arnulfo called off, and in his place was a 6 foot dream who introduced himself as Mark, and the Beautiful Boy Manny. kind of marvellous to watch those three do their thing.
aliyad somehow always manages to call me when i'm at bar, and she told me to take pictures. i tried, but i got busted. fun. we didn't stay long. for some reason, Mom wanted to go to the movies in Torrance, so we had to bounce early.
Denzel & Clive
we finally made it to see The Inside Man. what a bunch of nonsense that was. definitely well acted, but nonsense, nevertheless. we ended up sitting in like the 3rd row of the theatre, because it was packed. c'mon, the 7 o'clock show was packed? irked, i was. i swear, the boy behind us was jacking off for the last hour of the movie, which sent me into a fit of giggles that i couldn't stop. it was fun, though. the way that the movies usually are. i don't remember much about the plot, though, because i was, of course, wasted. but i swear it seemed like a bunch of nonsense. i'd like to know why the movie attempted to pretend that it's so shocking and horrifying that a Jewish person capitalized on the Holocaust. i don't know. there may have been some kind of thought provoking message in there somewhere, but i sure as hell didn't find it. kind of reminded me of The Seige, which was also a bunch of well acted nonsense. matters not, though. it's Denzel and it's Clive Owen. that's enough to get $10 out of me, every time.
Junior
so at my liquor store, there's this bear of a man who takes care of me. he's funny. he's handsome. and, of course, he terrifies me. a few months ago i got up the nerve to ask him his name. a couple of weeks ago, he started out-right flirting. on Friday, he asked me out. my response? "how come you only talk to me when i'm drunk?" ugh. i can never show my face there again. god save me from myself, please.
how can someone who talks so much shit have so little game? it's a damned shame, it really is.
we went home after that. and Mom locked the keys in the car. classic.
Luke & Mara
so Timothy Zahn added two more books to his Star Wars line, and i've been immersed in a galaxy far far away for the last week or so. Zahn is a great story teller. for me, only he has ever been able to capture for me the essence of the characters, the flavor of the worlds. Survivor's Quest starts off a little slow, but it picks up soon enough, and true to fashion, Zahn takes me on a roller coaster which hasn't stopped yet. good stuff. i was a little disappointed that he didn't include Leia, Han or Lando this time at all, but i suppose that Han & Leia's story has been told already, almost in its entirety. what else can be done with them? but Lando's story is still largely unfinished. there was room for him, dammit. hello, it's Lando, there's always room for Lando! ah well. i watched the dvds of ANH & TESB yesterday, too. i still don't have TPM or ROTS. i need to get those asap so i can watch them all in order. i swear, The Wiz & Star Wars. they never get old.
