Finally Completed Tasks

Since our new bookshelf arrived yesterday, today was spent moving books around, and filling the shelves (it's actually wider and deeper than the other shelves so it fits a lot more books on it). It is now mostly full (with the old shelves full of the bigger books, textbooks, and other educational paraphernalia). It's hard to believe that we were getting away with just the two bookshelves.

After we moved the books, we decided that it was time to put up the cot.

Which is where we discovered (to our great annoyance), that the cot we had been given did not come complete with bolts to hold it together. So, off to the hardware store we went (with the inner screws to show the size we need), we then discovered that the size of the thread is not one that is used any more and that we would have to replace the inner screws as well. Not too much of a problem, so back home we went, to discover the next problem.

The inner screws on the cot sides would not come out. We put the base on the cot and found the next problem, the bolt screws we had bought were too long. This time I sent hubby back to the hardware store while I had a short rest. Hubby came back and we finally got the base onto the cot. We were about to call my brother to sort out how to get the other inner screws out when I noticed the shape of the allen-key and wondered if it would help remove the screws, amazingly it did, and we successfully put together the remaining side of the cot.

Finally, after 3 hours of struggling (and two trips to the hardware store), the cot was put together properly.

We have now successfully put together the nursery (ok, so I haven't finished fixing up the bookshelves but they are mostly done - enough so that there are no books on the floor, or in boxes), and I will be able to start cooking this week.

I'm feeling very proud of myself, (and of hubby).
