Had my parents and brother over for dinner tonight, it all went well (ok, so the greens were overcooked - but they arrived late, and mum wanted to see the nursery before dinner). I don't think I'm brave enough yet to have the whole family over, but I will have to before we have the bub (mainly because I can't see me making dinner for 9 (or 10) at the same time as breastfeeding a baby (but you never know, I may find it easy).
I think my next step up will be to have both my sister's and their partners (that will make six people, and fit nicely round my table), and then worry about having everyone over.
Anyway, tonights dinner was a success (I didn't really do three courses, since I cheated and only did a salad for entree (it was too hot for soup), and mango, cherries and ice-cream for dessert. Mum even complimented me on my vegetables (besides the greens, but they all went, so it wasn't too bad).
Next weeks dinner is at mum's and I'm glad I don't have to do anything for it (seeing as there will be eighteen). My little sister is coming back from her honeymoon on Tuesday, so it's a combined dinner with her inlaws as well (her inlaws were fighting my mother for who would hold the welcome back dinner (mum won).
Now if I could just figure out when I'm going to have my sister's over. It will probably have to be one night during the week, seeing as Friday night dinners are organised well in advance.
