I was wandering through the labyrinth that is
Wikipedia the other day, and came across
this particular article. There was a bit of a journey that led me to it, actually, starting at the IMdB page for
Shannyn Sossamon, then moving to the IMdB page for an upcoming movie of hers (
Catacombs), the plot of which actually sounds really neat, and from there I ended up at Wikipedia, reading up on the Catacombs of Paris. What's my point? Well, it just seems like it would be a really crazy, wonderfully adventurous thing to do, this urban exploration, though probably more than a little dangerous. If nothing else, it might be interesting to somehow incorporate into a story. Hrm. Also, what the heck, "spelunking" has got to be one of the most fun words in the English language.
Right-o.
I did make it to the personnel place the other day, even though I had quite a bit of trouble trying to find it. Fortunately, after a frantic call to Scott and some "creative" driving, I arrived at my destination, albeit fifteen minutes late. Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm in their pool of candidates now, so they are looking out for potential jobs for me. It's actually really great because it requires very little commitment, meaning that you don't have to take a job if you don't think it would be right for you, and that, if you find a job outside of the agency, (e.g., in my case, probably a teaching job), you just let them know and they stop calling you about little jobs, but keep you on file just in case. And it's free, so, yay! The whole orientation thing gave me a well-needed self-esteem boost, especially after I found out I did well on the 11-minute IQ-type test and definitely when the woman interviewing me seemed impressed with my education, resumé, and such.
Speaking of self-esteem boosts, I do believe that it is time for some fishing. (Positively pilfered from
hopeonsun, but only after I gave her a compliment, of course.)
One little compliment can make you feel amazing.
So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind how great you are.
Other random thoughts of the day...
1. Hilary Duff's "Wake Up," which they're constantly playing on CardioTheater at my gym, makes me want to repeatedly jam sharp objects into my ears.
2. Why are people like Hilary Duff famous? WHY?
3. I am probably going to watch that stupid dance show again tonight. Stay tuned for commentary. Or don't. Whatever.
