Lady parts don't work that way
Okay, even though I had this thought after watching the season finale of Lost, it's not actually a spoiler unless you haven't watched the show since February.
So the world thinks that Aaron is Kate's baby, that she gave birth to while the Oceanic Six were marooned. Putting aside all the possible reasons why they might want to do this (some of which are spoilers, so I'll leave them out), this totally does not work.
Couldn't anyone, especially a doctor, take one look at Kate and realize that this woman has never been pregnant? Extremely skinny with absolutely no stretch marks, and even if you excuse those two, what about her vagina? She gave birth naturally, so it should still be stretched at that point. An OB/GYN would notice this right away.
My mother said, "Well, maybe she refused to let them look at her." And my response was, "No freaking way." These people survived a plane crash that killed everyone else on the flight, they were trapped on an uninhabited island for three months, spent time adrift on a raft, and finally they wash up on the shores of Indonesia, and oh yeah, one of them gave a premature birth- you think the authorities are just going to let them get away without a medical exam? Oceanic sure isn't - if they're going to pay out millions of dollars in a legal settlement, there's no way these people are going to see any money without being fully checked out by a doctor.
So yeah, huge plot hole. But at least one of the reporters at the press conference seemed to suspect something...
