The shock of the Supernatural Convention for me was Misha Collins. Sure Castiel was OK, pretty enough and from all reports Misha seemed to be an OK guy SO I was just amazed how impressed I was with him. He appears to really be an intelligent, thoughtful guy, who is not at all pompous and is open about himself and his work.

Whee, this is an awesome review. I think Misha has gotten into the swing of cons now, it sounds like he had lots of interesting and fun answers. I love that he gets the whole meta thing! And yeah, the female thing, although I hope he knows it's not as simple as that, because otherwise he couldn't have a very high opinion of the fandom. *muses*

A singing/dancing episode would be hilarious. And probably bad. :D

the female thing, although I hope he knows it's not as simple as that, Oh, I'm sure he does. He was asked about fan reaction and I think at least initially he was not hated because of his sex. But then, you've got the writers who I think write better for male characters and Misha himself who is an experienced actor.

He seems to have a very accurate idea about fandom. He mentioned "meta" specifically which means he's not just seeing the TWOP gossip and he mentioned slash and really played up to it. He seems to have investigated us, you know.

This is a guy I could chat with at the pub for hours, or have over for fantastic dinner parties. He isn't just a pretty face.

I think the writers think they are writing good female characters, but -- I mean, writers all through Hollywood seem to be so aware of writing Female Characters that it doesn't quite work. But yes, there are issues in the fandom as well. I'm just wondering if those more nuanced things translate to others.

Although I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he was doing his research! He certainly seems to have been different in this con compared to the others he did. And he's so ridiclously smart and switched on.
