OMG.Disneyland is so amazing.
Everything is so perfectly set out and designed - we are taking photos of everything. From fences to lights to the complimentary shampoos in the bathroom! They've all got little Disney logos or emblems worked into them - even the flower beds and pathways! All the people in each 'land' are dressed different and they're in character all the time. In fact, they don't have 'staff' they have 'cast members' instead :D
To start our day we headed into the main part of the park, the Main Street section. It's really old school looking, with carriages and little buggies. All the stores look vintage but they sell all kinds of amazing things inside. We got a bunch of stuff - and wanted more! There was then Tomorrowland - which is all futuristic stuff, plus the 'space' franchises like Star Wars and the Buzz Lightyear things. We watched a jedi training session which was full of adorableness. They picked small children from the audience and 'taught' them how to use lightsabers and then Darth Vader, Darth Maul and some Storm Troopers 'attacked'. The little kids then fought them off with Darth Vader trying to convince them to come to the dark side and Darth Maul doing these awesome double-ended lightsaber tricks! And the kids pretended to use their force push and threw the storm troopers around.
The Cast Members they have here are really great. Like, the normal people that serve you and such are all really friendly and open and know tons about the park, but the people in costume need to be in character ALL THE TIME. So when you see one going into the 'Cast Members Only' sections (ie behind the scenes dressing room areas) they do these cool exit flourishes. The princesses curtesy and Darth Maul was prowling around and such. Storm troopers appear everywhere through a burst of doors and the disney characters have theme music that plays and they enter the park through their own homes.
We then went to Toon Town. All the buildings looked like 3D cartoons - it was kind of like being on the set of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (of which there was stuff). We went into Mickey's house and we ate American Hotdogs (TM). We also bought a couple of tiny things from the gift shops there.
Then there was Fantasy Land - it's all pink and the Disney princesses live there. They have an enchanted cave and the castle from the Disney logo before movies is really massive. You can walk through it and there's Sleeping Beauty stuff. There were these really awesome hedges around the It's a Small World castle - they were all of African animals, but some of them had different plants for stripes or tails or manes - and they were all adorable. And THEN. We went on the teacups. It was our only ride for the day and it was totally awesome. The chick said you could fit 6 people in a cup, but what I think she meant to say was 1 person and 5 toddlers cos we barely fit in. It was still awesome.

Fear the awesome. Carolyn is taking the photo so didn't get in the picture T_T
Then was the snooze as mentioned in the previous entry. We woke up and went to go try real American pizza. Which was just as disgusting as it looks on tv. And we even got their version of supreme. It was then time to make a break for Main Street so we could see the fireworks. We didn't get too close cos pretty much the entirety of Disneyland came to watch. They put out all the lights in the park and it was AMAZING. Like, we thought that the Royal Show fireworks were better than the 4th of July ones we saw the other day but these ones left them both in the dust. They were played to Disney songs and we never seen fireworks like them. Every single one of them seemed to have at least 3 colours per explosion, they had sparkles and some of them exploded into quite complex shapes. There were ones with delayed explosions, ones that exploded, then streamed, then sparkled and exploded again. They had a girl dressed as Tinkerbell all glowing and on a wire 'casting' the fireworks and then they had Dumbo fly past as well. There was a great bit where the fairies from Sleeping Beauty were fighting over whether the fireworks should be pink or blue and they were changing as they argued. It was spectacularly well timed!
After all that amazingness, we came back down to Disney Downtown and checked out the cinemas and shops. Tomorrow we're going to go to the California Adenture Park side of Disney and go on a ton of rides. :D
