Canadian intellectuals get very snippy when we actually show signs of *liking* an American figure, or something the Americans have done. It's not an attractive trait - if we blindly worshipped everything from south of the border, then fine, but that doesn't happen.

I would bitch at Mr. Coyne, but since he's Canadian and I don't know all his childhood trauma, I'll refrain. But seriously, does he stomp about trying to kill the resurgence of hope wherever it lies? Kick puppies and tell kids there is no Santa? Who died and made him Scrooge? Seriously. No. Seriously.
