From the whitehouse.gov site - check out how happy everyone looks to see Obama during his impromptu visit to the Byward Market. Americans, be prepared to see a lot more of this whenever he leaves your country. You may need to rest up afterwards for a while until you get used to it.
Note: There's a really nice shot on there of Jessica Milien, the high school student, Obama fan and BeaverTail employee who got to deliver his BeaverTail. She looks happy and just a wee bit petrified. *g*
This, however, is one of my absolute favourites of the shots so far, because look at the hint of his right hand - HIS ARMS CAN ENCOMPASS FOUR GIRLS AT ONCE:
J says he was watching the coverage of his visit and Obama walked up to these girls and asked if they'd like a picture with him. They agreed wholeheartedly, and after the picture was taken and he'd walked away, the one in the blue jacket turned to her friends and made this perfect 0.0 face, as if to say OMG DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?

Although according to MacLean's wag Andrew Coyne, we should all be feeling ashamed of our fangirl squee. To which I say: pffffffhhhhttt. We haven't been able to get enthusiastic about any politician - domestic or foreign - since Trudeau, and that was forty years ago. I think we've earned the right to another display of childish hero worship. :)
