Good heavens! Are you a Kellie Matthews fan, too, lamardeuse? Isn't she incredible? I just adored her Garnish series. And that story with Amanda from Hughlander that started the series was superb. Thanks for letting us know about her new story. Haven't been over there to check for a while, so it's great to know that there are goodies waiting over there.
I'm sure you've already read it, but have you read Bone's HOW RAY GOT HIS GROOVE BACK? I think that is the most perfect DS story ever written. It is terrifying how well Bone gets both their voices in it.

Oh, definitely love Bone as well--I keep re-reading her work over and over. I first got into F/K fic through Resonant, who also hooked me into Snarry with "The Familiar", and since then have sampled the joys of such fabulous authors as Speranza, Kass, Beth, Kalena, Purna, Kat Allison, Dira Sudis, and Rowan...too many to name! There's a great deal of high-quality writing out there in dS slash land--that was something which impressed me from the first. I must try to get better at my feedback, though, and send kudos to authors whose work I really enjoy.
Wow--most perfect dS story--that's a hard one! It keeps changing for me, but I'd have to put in a vote for Resonant's "Broadway Hotel" for short stories, and Beth and Kellie's "Like a House on Fire" for longer ones. BH still blows me away every time I come back to it--it's not only perfect Ray and Fraser, it's a fabulous piece of short fiction.

Yes, Broadway Hotel is a definite keeper, so to speak. LOL Resonant is just so incredibly talented. Her FAMILIAR was one of the first HP stories friends gave me to pimp me into the fandom, but I think it was TRANSFIGURATIONS that made me realize what an amazing writer Resonant is. Normally, people see one pairing and write it especially well in a fandom, but she wrote Harry/Draco just as well as she did Harry/Snape. It was amazing.
Back to DS, was LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE the story where Ray was a widower and Fraser moves in to help him take care of his kids? I really loved that story.
And you're right about DS having some incredible writers. It's one of the things HP and DS share.

No, it takes place about two years after Fraser goes back up North. Ray pays him an unexpected visit and finds Fraser basically suffering from boredom and depression--and then a case falls in their lap and they regain their magic, in more ways than one! Oh, man, there's a scene where Fraser catches up with Ray on the highway...okay, I'm going to stop now! :)
But what's that other one? I'm having a terrible craving for kidfic now. I'm going to have to restrain myself from reading Speranza's "With Six You Get Eggroll" today so that I can finish chapter 26 of ATOL. Bad writer! Bad writer! *g*
You, my dear, are quite evil to post this while I'm still at work. I've read a couple of her stories (am I confused, or is she the one who does the dS/HCL/Tales of the City crossovers as well?), and I really want to explore this site...not a good idea when my boss can see my screen. Sigh...

::snerk:: Serves you right for being a naughty girl at work!

I believe so, though I skipped over those since I hadn't seen either. I may go back to them when I get desperate for a Kellie fix! *g* In the past few days I also went through "Turning", which is another great fic with a lot of Native spirituality and culture in it (remember Eric from the mask ep? He's in it). If you haven't read that one, that's another fabulous story.
Considering how well-known she is, I think Kellie is a vastly *under*-rated writer.
Wow, that's amazing, because I've become a complete convert. I don't read a lot of novel-length fanfic (at least I never used to!), but I just flip whenever I find a long DS story I haven't read. The level of dedication it takes to write as many as she has blows my mind--I'm finishing ONE and I'm exhausted! :) And Kellie puts such effort into the research, you feel as though you're there, you're a part of that community, you understand that culture a little better.
Just want to second your rec -- all the more credible from you because you're such a fine writer yourself. :)
Aw, shucks, ma'am. Right back at you. I knew there was someone I forgot in my list! "First" is a little gem, and "High Speed Chase"...well, nummmmmy! :)
