Just had to put this all down for posterity.
Nate turns five tomorrow. Geez, where has the time gone?
So, I am working on things for his Go Diego Go Party. Diego being Dora the Explorer's cousin
who is an animal rescuer. He is Nathan's hero and Nathan wants to be just like him.
He is shown above wearing the t-shirt his uncle made for him by pilfering an image off the internet.
Nick Jr. is losing a ton of money cause they are too freakin' slow with their merch.
Anyway, here is my practice cake. It's hysterical:
I know, it looks nothing like Diego. It's not at all hispanic looking. But, you know, I just didn't have
the energy to color the frosting just so. As it was, I made the frosting from scratch.
The cake was out of a box but I sifted four freaking cups of powdered sugar
for that frosting and I used every last bit.
I'm much more proud of my other accessories. Shit, how do you spell accessories?"
For instance, the candy bar party favor:
I made it myself! It is a wrapped up Hershey bar, yum!
And it will go in this handy dandy rescue pack:
I also made it myself by drawing the face in photoshop and using transfer paper in my printer.
Then I ironed it on the little bag. I made over a dozen of these suckers.
They contain a pop-up animal book (found those at the dollar store), a bag of animal crackers
and the candy bar. I said, "Forget all those other little knick knacks. They suck!".
Plus, I bought a bunch of bean bag jungle animals. I'm going to make the kids rescue them from the
bouncy castle we are renting.
It's going to be an ANIMAL RESCUE ADVENTURE!
They get little maps and everything!
Okay, well, all the work with the cake made me decide to order the party cake and just do the decorations.
That cake will be a green forest with pretzel trees and jungle animals.
I will take a pic of that when it is done. The Diego cake goes to school with Nate tomorrow.
If those kids laugh at it I'm going to kick them.
Oh yeah, Zach walked with his walker for the first time today. He was really getting the hang of it
