Ahhh its nice to be making bento's again even if it is only temporary. I saw this demo recipe on you tube and just had to try it out in a bento. I was happy with the result, from such a simple recipe.

I like that you were able to make the chicken look appetizing. That seems to be the main difficulty to me, is making brown food look good in a bento. :]
It looks delicious, thanks for the link!

hehe I try to make my food look good but if you look back at older entries I always do the same thing to make my food pop. I always add green onions and or black or white sesame seeds, they really help with the presentation but it is an extra second of prep! Try it next time you have a brown food, I hope yours will be beautiful to your eyes even though I am sure it already taste good to your stomach

I really like the idea though, and it seems so easy! I'll try it sometime. :3
Looking at the recipe, I see it calls for mirin (sweet sake).
Did you pick this up in the Asian section of the grocery store, or should I try and Asian market? Thanks! :]

To be honest I don't use mirin, even though its in almost every Japanese recipe. It is easily found in my grocery store even in my small coffee deli but I live in a very Asian community. I believe it can be found easily in an Asian grocery but if it is easier try to look for it in the regular market I notice every time I go the Asian section grows so much! I actually have no idea what mirin tastes like, but the recipe I think tasted fine without it. Esp. since the recipe calls for such a small amount of mirin I never seem to take that ingredient into account when I try recipes.
